As we head into 2026, it will have been fifty years since Ballet Wolcott Founder and Board President Helene Nilsen met June Gorton, the founding director of the Wolcott Children’s Ballet. Learning from June inspired Helene to continue to champion and shepherd the love and practice of ballet in our community for five decades. Along with Helene, the torch has been carried by many, including Kennet Oberly, Brynar Mehl, Brandy Perez, Avi Waring, Steffi Thomas, and Joanne Whitehill.

Today, the Ballet Wolcott staff and board are proud to continue in their pointed-toe footsteps to nurture and expand on this rich history of delivering accessible, high-quality dance training to our rural community.

At Ballet Wolcott, teachers, students, staff, and supporters work together to create an inclusive, creative community, where young people can grow, connect, and inspire through hard work, perseverance, and fun.

Your support helps us keep tuition affordable, offer scholarships to those in need, and offer high-quality programming, while paying professional wages to our quality staff.

As we celebrate the past, and dream about the next fifty years, will you help us dance into the future with strength?
