Meet the Faculty

We are excited to introduce the other teachers who will joining Artistic Director "Mr. Vlad" Roje. A former student of Mr. Vlad, Lilly Cookson returns to Ballet Wolcott to teach our Saturday morning classes. Returning Ballet Wolcott teacher Cydney Te***ne will be teaching Ballet 2, and Robin Allen LaPlante will be teaching Adult Ballet.

Ballet Wolcott is excited to announce the appointment of Vladimir Roje as Artistic Director. In this role, he will provide artistic and educational leadership for all faculty and students, as well as teaching intermediate and advanced level ballet classes. With decades of international performing and teaching experience, he is bringing an exceptional level of high quality ballet training to Northern Vermont.

We will be hosting a Meet & Greet with “Mr. Vlad” on Friday, July 31 at 6:00pm at the Wolcott Town Hall. All are welcome to come get to know him and hear about his vision for the future of Ballet Wolcott.

Back by popular demand! Shidaa Projects presents a family-friendly West African Dance Workshop with live drumming. Shidaa Projects founder Jordan Mensah will take participants through easy and fun-filled dance repertoires originating from Ghana. No previous dance experience is needed and open to all ages. Bring the whole family!

Thanks to generous support from Healthy Lamoille Valley, we are able to offer this workshop without a fixed fee to participate.

Participants can choose to pay what they wish, whether that’s $0 or $50. Contributions of any amount will help us continue to offer accessible arts programming to our community.

Please register in advance; donations can be made by cash or check at the event.

We are excited to host sought-after ballet instructor Joey-Lynn Mann next week!

There are still some spots available for students 7-11, and 12-18.

Students will focus on strong foundational technique as well as learning choreography from classical ballets.

Joey-Lynn Mann began her training at the National Ballet of Canada, continuing her studies at Pacific Northwest Ballet, where she graduated. Ms. Mann danced with Ballet Idaho and Nevada Ballet Theatre before joining Orlando Ballet. She danced the lead role in works including Carmen, Coppelia, La Bayadere, La Fille Malle Gardee, The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Balanchine's Agon, Concerto Barocco, and Serenade, among others.
As a certified ABT Curriculum teacher, Ms. Mann has guest taught throughout the United States and Canada. She has served on the full time faculty of Orlando Ballet School. She was children's cast director of The Nutcracker, and leader of educational outreach programs in conjunction with Orange County Public Schools. Upon her retirement from full time performing as a principal dancer with Orlando Ballet, Ms. Mann continued to grace the stage as a character artist, working as Ballet Master under the direction of Bruce Marks, and served as Assistant to the Artistic Director for Robert Hill for a decade. Ms. Mann continues to share her knowledge and experience with dancers, as a freelance Ballet Master and is currently teaching in VT at Ballet Wolcott, The Ballet School of Vermont, and North Country School of Dance.

We are excited to welcome Sojourn Gudorf Johnston as Guest Instructor of our Summer Intensive July 13-17.

Ages 6-9 9:00-12:00 Students will be immersed in the fun and creativity of movement, exploring various dance styles, as well as arts and crafts, circus skills, and more. Students will learn about the stories of the classic ballets and then explore how ballet uses technique, choreography, and physical expression to tell the story.

Ages 10-16 1:00-5:00 Intermediate students will dive deeper into ballet technique and artistry, exploring the stories and history of ballet, as well as special workshops in various dance styles, circus arts, and more.

Registration now open. $175, financial aid available.

Sojourn Gudorf Johnston, originally from Craftsbury, Vermont, began her dance training at the age of five, studying ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and hip-hop. She trained under Boston Ballet principal dancers and earned top awards at Youth America Grand Prix competitions, advancing to finals in New York and Paris. Sojourn expanded her training in a variety of dance styles on merit scholarships with American Ballet Theatre, Bolshoi Ballet, Boston Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, and Joffrey Musical Theater. She graduated from the English National Ballet School’s three-year Trainee Program with a Diploma in Professional Dance. As a professional dancer with Ballet Frontier of Fort Worth, she performs leading roles in both classical ballets and contemporary works. With eight years of teaching experience across ballet, jazz, musical theater, tap, hip hop, improvisation, and contemporary, Sojourn is passionate about inspiring students through a love of dance and performance.
