Dear Friends,

The traditional Turkish shadow theater, “Karagöz & Hacivat,” is traveling across the US and will make a special stop in Michigan.

TACAM is happy to host the Karagöz Caravan and the members of Turkish American Arts Society of New York (TAASNY) on Thursday October 15, 2026.

Join us for this beloved Turkish cultural tradition, and experience the timeless humor and artistry of Karagöz & Hacivat!

The show is both in Turkish and English, and both adults and kids would enjoy it.

The Karagöz Caravan team will also document the stories and histories of the Turkish diaspora along their journey across the United States, including the experiences and stories of Turkish Michiganders.

The event will begin with an introduction to the beloved characters of the traditional Turkish shadow theater, Karagöz & Hacivat, followed by a live performance.

After the show, we will continue the conversation over Turkish tea and light refreshments, providing an opportunity to meet the performers, share stories, and connect with fellow community members.

This is a free event, but donations are greatly appreciated.

We hope to see you all on Thursday, October 15, at 6:00 PM at TACAM.

We look forward to sharing this special evening of Turkish culture, storytelling, and community with you!

Kind regards,
TACAM BoD
