As one of Virginia’s longest continuing county fairs and Southwest Virginia’s largest fair venues, the Virginia-Kentucky District Fair has proudly featured fun and excitement for all ages since 1913! Whether it’s the clashing and crashing of the Demolition Derby, a "Buckin Good Time" at the Bull Riding, the fun filled evenings of great Horse Shows, or a night spent enjoying concerts by chart toppi

ng musicians, the Virginia-Kentucky District Fair has something for you! The fair also presents a Talent Competition and the Miss Virginia-Kentucky District Fair Scholarship Pageant. McDonald’s Farm is open daily featuring exhibits of agriculture, arts, crafts, needlework and clothing, home economics, and youth division exhibits. Kids Day provides a day of one-price rides for children under 12. The Motocross Competition boasts a track that has up to 3 feet jumps and over 1500 feet long. A dirt bike, good tires and the need for speed and adrenaline will get you across the finish line! We offer a class for every rider! The talent competition, pageant, and concerts are presented on a stage which many locals remember as the stage and fairground scene of the locally filmed, Hollywood hit “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”

The Bull Riding Event, hosted by GN Livestock & Bucking Bulls, is a fair favorite! With some of the meanest bulls around, it takes a real cowboy to hold on for 8 seconds! The Demolition Derby is one of the most exciting events of the fair; offering heart-wrenching, edge of your seat excitement for all who dare to watch! Our Horse Show features up to 30 classes, trophies and payouts are awarded to the top contestants in each class. All horses must have current negative coggins and a complete list of rules & regulations is provided on the fairs website www.VaKyFair.com

On behalf of the Virginia-Kentucky District Fair Pageant Committee, we would like to extend our sincerest apology to one of our Wee Miss contestants and her family following the June 10, 2026 pageant.

After a thorough review of the tabulation sheets, we discovered that an honest tabulation error resulted in one contestant's score being inadvertently overlooked. As a result, she was not recognized during the pageant when, in fact, she had earned the title of 2nd Runner-Up.

We understand that this mistake was deeply disappointing, especially for a young contestant who worked hard and deserved to hear her name called. For that, we are truly sorry.

We want to assure everyone that this error was completely unintentional. Our tabulators are experienced professionals who work with numbers every day, and despite the greatest care being taken, mistakes can happen. This was simply an unfortunate human error and in no way reflects any bias, favoritism, or intentional wrongdoing.

The contestant's family reached out to us, which prompted the review, and we offer our heartfelt apology and to ensure she receives the recognition she rightfully earned.

The Virginia-Kentucky District Fair Pageant has always been committed to fairness, integrity, and celebrating every contestant. We appreciate the grace and understanding shown by the family and our pageant community as we work to learn from this experience and strengthen our procedures moving forward.

Please join us in congratulating our newly recognized 2nd Runner-Up, Amelia Roberts. We are incredibly proud of all of our contestants and thank each family for being a part of this year's pageant.
ALL master score sheets were thoroughly reviewed, and no other errors were found. Thank you all for your understanding in this error.

Courtney Rasnake, Pageant Director
