WOW - What an incredible way to close out the 2026 race season here at Wiscasset Speedway! ๐
Nearly 200 (yes, two HUNDRED) competitors joined us on Saturday for our "Fall Fury XL" event, where we hosted our annual Strictly Shootout, Group 2 Championship Day, a $6,000-to-win Crown Vic race, 150-lap open Enduro and even welcomed our friends from the Wicked Good Vintage Racers.
What a day it was - the overwhelming turnout caused us to open up an area of the pits that we have never used before, but we got everyone in and had a great time doing it.
Congratulations to all of this year's Group 2 champions, along with Chase Burgess on his first career win at Wiscasset Speedway, and Jaxson Moreside on his first victory in the Sport Modifieds.
After years of being in the mix, Scott Eck finally broke through and got his first career Strictly Shootout victory following one Heck of a showdown in the closing laps of the race. ๐ค
Kevin Sherman, who has been behind the wheel of just about anything here at Wiscasset Speedway, beat out Crown Vic regular Derek Guptill for the big $6,000 payday. Yay - cop cars! ๐จ
Gavin Gerow had quite the day himself, picking up a feature victory in the Roadrunners AND the championship, topped off by another win in the Enduro.
Meanwhile, Irving Doughty was crowned the "King of the Enduros" after finishing all 4 races with the top average finish. ๐
Chassidy Shorty, who blew away the competition this year in the 4-Cylinder Pros, also received the well-deserved pepsi "Driver of the Year" honor at the end of the night. ๐
Thank you to all of the volunteers, competitors and fans that made the 2026 race season absolutely incredible - we already can't wait to do it all again in 2027!
Don't forget - the racing might be over for the season, but we will still be hosting our annual "Trunk or Treat" event ON Halloween this year - Saturday, October 31st from 2-5. ๐
