On April 18, 2026 the History Committee of the Ahoskie Woman's Club assisted the Ahoskie Museum with our first speaker event for 2026. The topic was the History of our ECU-Roanoke Chowan Hospital. Pat welcomed all and introduced Elaine Myers, Woman’s Club member, and Ernie Evans who were our featured speakers. The event traced the history and growth of our hospital and the individuals who made it possible. A detailed article about the event was in the April 25, 2026 News Herald. Dr. Charles Sawyer, Dr. Julian Taylor, Dr. Mike Alston, Dr. Almario, and Dr. Colin Jones attended and Dr. Jones spoke and asked for stories and comments from the audience. Stories were shared, smiles, laughter and fellowship filled the room. Below are a few pictures.

I have been looking through the many newspapers that the Ahoskie Woman’s Club worked at having digitized on digitalnc.org.
Here is one of the newspapers, The Herald Jan 1, 1959 edition. You should take time and go to
https://www.digitalnc.org/institutions/ahoskie-womans-club/
And look up some of the local history that was shared.
