BEYOND THE BLUES Live music returns to the lawn of the historic Deane Winthrop House! The acclaimed Squeezebox Stompers band and special guest Erinn Brown will perform the songs from Ralph Tufo’s Beyond the Blues Musical R***e on September 19th from 2-3:30PM on the Deane Winthrop lawn, 40 Shirley St., Winthrop, MA.. This performance is made possible through the financial support of the Winthrop Cultural Council, our local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, plus the loan of the venue for the concert by the Winthrop Improvement & Historical Association (WIHA). Beyond the Blues Musical R***e was originally a full-length play produced on Youtube in November 2020. WIHA’s own Ralph Tufo will provide a brief introduction for each of his eleven songs, describing its relevance and context within the play. The songs are in various styles of Blues Music: shuffles, ballads, swing, delta, up-tempo, and pop-blues. After the performance, there will be a brief Meet & Greet session with the Author and the Squeezebox Stompers band members. There is no admission fee. The audience is asked to use social distancing in placing their lawn chairs or blankets. If it rains, the event will be moved indoors to the adjacent Deane Winthrop Barn (masks recommended).
