🍂🔍 Community Metal Detecting Event This Sunday! 🔍🍂

Celebrate Winthrop Harbor's 125th Anniversary with an afternoon of exploration, history, and fun at Fossland Park! Join Winthrop Harbor Recreation and the Illinois Metal Detecting Association (IMDA) on Sunday, October 25 from 1:00-4:00 PM for a hands-on metal detecting experience for all ages.

Try your luck uncovering hidden treasures, learn from experienced detectorists, view historical finds from across Illinois, and even borrow equipment if you're new to the hobby.

🏀 A fresh look for our gym, thanks to a great team effort!

A huge thank-you to our Winthrop Harbor Parks & Recreation staff for their hard work painting the gym walls and preparing them for the installation of the new gym wall pads! From preparation and painting, our team put time, care, and effort into improving this space for our community.

We’re also grateful to the Winthrop Harbor Lions Club for their partnership and support in making these improvements possible. Working together helps us create spaces our community can enjoy and take pride in.

Helping Spread the Word for a Community Partner

Our community Partners at Winthrop Harbor Memorial VFW Post 7448 are seeking sponsors to help local veterans become VFW Lifetime Members, with a special focus on Korean and Vietnam era veterans.

For veterans on fixed incomes, annual dues can be a real burden. A sponsorship covers that cost for good, so a veteran can stay connected to the fellowship, support, and community they earned, while helping keep our local Post strong for generations to come.

Celebrate Winthrop Harbor’s 125th Anniversary with a unique afternoon of exploration at Fossland Park! Join Winthrop Harbor Recreation and the Illinois Metal Detecting Association (IMDA) on Sunday, October 25 from 1:00-4:00 PM for a hands-on metal detecting experience for all ages.

Get ready for another exciting season of Winthrop Harbor Winter Basketball! Registration is now open for boys and girls in 1st through 8th grade.

This league is a great opportunity for young athletes to develop basketball skills, build confidence, learn teamwork, and most importantly, have fun in a positive and supportive environment.

📅 Practice begins the week of December 7th
🏀 One practice per week
📅 Saturday games from January 9th through March 14th
👧👦 Open to boys and girls in 1st-8th grade
