Chef Aaron Holt of Catering by Doolittle Farm used wild blackberries picked here on the prairie in the dessert—and served it in bowls I made especially for him.

So fun to see things grown, gathered, and made here all come together at the table!

Great food has a way of bringing people together.

Our hope has always been that guests leave remembering more than the meal—that they leave with a sense of this place.

We’re looking forward to gathering around the table again this fall.

Long before our barn dinners, people were gathering around this barn. For generations, it was at the center of everyday life on another Iowa farm.

When the barn could no longer remain where it stood, it was carefully taken apart, and rebuilt at Lone Oaks Farm. More than 170 years later, those same hand-hewn beams still bear the axe marks of the people who shaped them.

The barn's purpose has changed over the years, but it still brings people together.

We're looking forward to welcoming Chef Aaron Holt back this fall.
