Winter Harbor Music is pleased to welcome the Dirigo Quartet for a special evening of chamber music this Friday, June 5 featuring works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, and contemporary composer William Somes.

The program explores the string quartet tradition across centuries, beginning with Mozart’s Quartet in D minor, K. 421, one of the composer’s most dramatic and emotionally charged chamber works. The quartet will also present the premiere of Somes’s Quartet in D minor (“The Loon”), a contemporary work inspired by the natural landscapes and atmosphere of Maine. The concert concludes with Haydn’s Quartet in C Major, op. 33, no. 3 (“The Bird”), beloved for its wit, lyricism, and playful musical character.

Two mustachioed “Albanians” stirred up mischief to great comedic effect in our August 2024 performance of Mozart’s opera, Cosi Fan Tutte! We have another double header opera season for you just around the corner!

You can preorder tickets on our website for our 2026 performances of Rossini’s ‘The Italian Girl in Algiers’ in July as well as Mozart’s ‘The Abduction from the Seraglio’ in August at Hammond Hall in Winter Harbor.

The Winter Harbor Music Festival was founded with an emphasis on side by side collaboration across ages and levels. We were excited to return to our roots with the recent side by side performance of our Downeast Chamber Orchestra and the young musicians who took part in String Day at MDI High School!
