It’s almost time! 🐝 We are so excited to welcome our dancers back to The Hive Academy of Dance for the 2026–2027 dance season beginning next week, August 17!
As you get your dancer ready for their first class, please take a few minutes to review our dress code and class requirements below.
DANCE ATTIRE & HAIR
Dancers should arrive in proper dance attire with hair pulled securely away from the face. Buns are preferred, but a ponytail or braid is also acceptable.
Proper dance attire includes:
Leotards
Form-fitting shirts or tanks
Tights
Dance skirts
Dance shorts
Dance leggings
Pink leather ballet shoes for girls / black leather ballet shoes for boys
Black tap shoes
No baggy clothing is permitted. Proper attire allows dancers to move freely and allows instructors to clearly see body alignment and technique. This is important for your dancer’s safety and shows respect for the discipline of dance.
Please remember that dancers who are not wearing proper dance attire may sit and observe class, but may not participate.
DANCE SHOES
Please write your dancer’s name inside ALL dance shoes before the first day of class. Dance shoes should never be worn outside the studio. This protects both your dancer’s shoes and our studio floors!
FIRST-DAY CHECKLIST 🐝
Before heading to The Hive next week, make sure your dancer has:
✓ Proper dance attire
✓ Hair secured away from the face
✓ Correct dance shoes
✓ Name written inside all dance shoes
✓ A water bottle
