My Introduction to Weaving students have successfully dressed their looms and are now weaving samplers. Pictured you can see plain weave and an embellishment of chenille loops. Next week there will be more experimentation with color, texture and ornamentation on plain weave plus a dive into twill structures.

Last night I attended the reception for the opening of the Sawtooth Spotlight Juried Exhibition. Many beautiful pieces are on display. Here is my "Autumn Leaves" scarf with beaded fringe. The exhibit continues through January 31st. Better yet, you can visit the show while doing some shopping at the Holiday Market on December 6 from 11 am to 4 pm.

I had the pleasure of teaching various weaving techniques to a group of young talents at Wilkes Art Gallery Summer Camp this week. Students created decorative art with circular weaving, wall hangings with frame looms and fashioned coasters, lavender sachets, bookmarks and cute little animals from squares and rectangles on pin looms.

The 46th Annual Northwest Artists' Juried Exhibition is still on display at the Wilkes Art Gallery through August 27, 2025. You can enjoy the amazing artwork of dozens of area creatives including three of my woven pieces.
