I've received a few messages and texts lately regarding the inactivity on this page, as well as what I've been doing. Today seemed like a solid opportunity to address that.
Finding work in music can be tricky, whether local or regional. I once worked regularly each weekend, but that job gradually ceased booking for special events (which is unfortunate, as special events tend to bring adequate compensation). Since then, I pick up what gigs are available as time allows. I've had the most-humbling privilege to work with some really outstanding musicians and venues in our area. Some of those gigs were from venues with last minute cancellations that ended with me getting a call, and some were sub gigs with me covering someone else's place in their absence. On a few occasions, myself & a few others would throw something together to appease the masses. Either way, I have been extremely fortunate, and for that I am thankful.
Sometimes, you make arrangements to go in a specific direction...only to have the Universe reveal plans that are entirely opposite from how you prepared. I find myself at a loss for words some days at how I had started going one direction, only to wind up pointed in another.
I do have some plans in the works for this coming year. I'm looking forward to doing some different types of gigs in 2018, as well as establishing solid foundations and relations with venues, clients, and performers (old & new). I'll be working on some projects with a couple of local venues for special events. There are even a couple of performers I'll be working with this year for the first time.
Should be fun. :)
