Non-musical history for today: 1960 – The United States Navy submarine USS Triton completed the first submerged circumnavigation of the globe. It remained entirely submerged for 60 days, 21 hours, only rising to periscope depth for navigation/ventilation and once to pass a sick sailor to the USS Macon, without breaking the "submerged" status. Impressive, but man, I bet those sailors were in dire want of sunlight....

Non-musical history for today: 1985 – Coca-Cola changed its formula and released New Coke. The response is overwhelmingly negative, and the original formula is back on the market in less than three months. It was a day that will live in pop culture infamy. It was like less-good-Pepsi. Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for April 23. Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza....
