Indigo

I have mostly done sculptures in my art career, but for the last 6 years I have been dedicated to learning to paint in oils. I love the challenge of painting light and trying to achieve depth in a painting. So much still to learn, and it will always be that way as each painting presents its own challenges. This painting of my Welsh Cross pony is currently in the Society of Animal Artists Annual Exhibition, in which I am a Signature Member. It is hard to get into their shows, and I am so honored! Indigo has my heart, and I love painting her and animals in general, and occasional commissions.

Mount Airy Downtown Historic Clock

This clock is on the corner of Main St and Moore Ave in downtown Mount Airy. It is a symbol of downtown for at least 4 generations. It has a beautiful sound, and before smartphones and smartwatches, it was so helpful to the shoppers and workers.

Stone Bridge at Reynolda Village

Painted the summer of 2023 after seeing how gorgeous it was looking one beautiful morning in May. I captured an image while walking at the Village, and painted from that as it looked so perfectly spring/early summer- like!

Paw Paw's Old Country Store

This little store was built by my Paw Paw to house a collection he spent years gathering from auctions, estate sales, and forgotten corners of the past. Every sign, gas pump, bottle, and treasure held a piece of history that caught his eye and sparked his imagination.

For me, this building is more than a collection of objects. It is a reflection of the man who patiently searched for them, cared for them, and gave them a place to belong. Painting it was a way of preserving not only the store itself, but the memories, stories, and love woven into every weathered board.

This piece is dedicated to my Paw Paw and the legacy he built, one treasure at a time.
