Hi, I'm Michelle, a watercolor and mixed media artist living in North Carolina with my husband and two rescue dogs. I have always loved being outdoors and spending time in nature. I love discovering new ways to explore my passion for nature via a paintbrush, gelli plate, and glue stick. I am a proud member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina, Collage Artists of America, Associated Artists

of Winston-Salem, High Country Plein Air Painters, Special Agent Collage Collective, and Arts For Art's Sake. I am excited to share my art adventures with you and hope you might consider bringing them into your home.

I spent a lot of time at the Winston-Salem Open last week and I also took the chance to sketch the court in my new little journal made by Jana Clinard Harris . What have you been sketching this summer?

Bluebirds are among my favorite birds. I love that they are smaller than most and able to get into the tiniest of holes, protecting them from predators and other bird bullies. And their colors are so striking, popping up in spring and reminding us of the promise of growth and sunshine in the months ahead.

This background was made with a stencil by my friend Martha Christopher and you can buy it too in the link in her bio.

Some artists create from photos and some from imagination. I find myself some where in the middle, but I love dreaming up new magical places that I’d love to visit, including this one. šŸŖ„ 🌱 ā¤ļø

Love reimagining a fashion ad with Posca pens. And I find Natalie Portman so inspiring as well, especially in her new get up.

ā€œGrounded Dreamsā€ - Aiyana has her feet firmly planted on the ground, yet she’s covered in a rainbow of colors, and her head is full of possibilities.

I find this mindset to be the best one for making big decisions and enacting positive change. What are you dreaming of today?

Oceans of Time… I painted this while on a cruise ship in the Caribbean nearly 4 weeks ago. It’s hard to believe that it’s been that long but it also seems like months ago. Time is weird, right?

Scroll to the second picture to see the inspiration - this was a painting at the foot of our bed in our room on the ship. It inspired me to get out my watercolors and re-create it in my own style. What’s inspiring you these days?

Nothing in life is perfect but what better reminders of the beauty in imperfection than wildflowers? They brighten our days by sneaking out between cracks in the sidewalk and interrupting an otherwise monotonous green-grass field. Next time you see one, don’t forget to stop and soak up the glory of these beautiful ā€œweedsā€.
