Some of our staff were lucky enough to participate in last year’s Citizen Academy. This is a one-of-a-kind experience and we highly recommend this for anyone curious about how the town runs.

The Windsor Citizen Academy is back! Join our free 10-week course to discover how the Town of Windsor operates day-to-day—from public safety and public works to Parks, Recreation & Culture and more. The program, set to begin on Aug. 18, will run through Oct. 27, with sessions held every Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at various town facilities.
Participants will:
➡️ Get a closer look at your town’s departments
➡️ Meet Windsor staff and leadership
➡️ Learn how YOU can get involved
Spaces are limited, so register early!
📝 Registration Opens Friday, May 1: https://windsorgov.com/CitizenAcademy

Happy 137th incorporation day, Windsor!

Happy 137th incorporation day, Windsor!

Today, Thursday, April 2, Windsor is celebrating its 137th incorporation anniversary! Long before today, Windsor looked a little different, but pieces of its history are still right under our noses.
📜 The Halfway House (335 McNeil Dr.) once served travelers as a stagecoach stop and later became a saloon and post office, among other things, between 1873 and the early 1880s after the railroad arrived.
📜 The Great Western Sugar Factory (1905–1966) lives on through Chimney Park (421 Chimney Park Dr.), where its chimneys are visible from the pool and ballfields.
📜 The Windsor History Museum (100 N. 5th St.) features historic buildings from 1882–1920s that were constructed around Windsor and moved to the site. The Train Depot features hands-on history exhibits!
📜 The 1904 Eaton House (130 N. 5th St.) is built by and named after B.H. Eaton, former Colorado Territorial Governor.
📜 Visit one of Windsor’s oldest trees, a 100+ year-old cottonwood, at Eastman Park (7025 Eastman Park Dr.).
Even as our town continues to evolve, we’re grateful for the reminders of our past and the people that work so hard to preserve our history!
