🐾 Studio Creativity Meets Dog Mom Creativity 🐾

Not every project happens in the studio!

Poor Rosie developed a hot spot and wouldn’t stop licking it. Before rushing out to buy a cone, I looked around the house for a solution and spotted my airplane neck pillow. A quick strap adjustment and voilà—a much softer, more comfortable ā€œconeā€ that keeps her away from the sore spot.

Sometimes creativity isn’t about making art—it’s about solving everyday problems with what you already have.

Rosie isn’t completely convinced this is a fashion statement, but I think she’s rocking it. ā¤ļø

Have you ever repurposed something in an unexpected way?

I would love to see Linda T. Hubbard receive the Mary Rindfleish Heart of the Arts Award, presented to an outstanding volunteer in recognition of extraordinary commitment and service that nurture arts and culture and increase the quality of life in the community.

Linda helped start The Sherman Artists Association and has been a vital volunteer, supporter of the arts, active artist, and advocate for the creative community for many years. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Sherman Commission for the Arts and has been instrumental in the Great Hollow Photography Club, helping create many programs, workshops, and community art events.

She was also one of the owners of WestRiver Gallery in Beacon Falls, NY, for 16 years, supporting artists and the arts. In addition, she helped manage artist shows at the Land Gallery in Pawling, NY, where she was an active artist member during its first five years. She was also involved with Gallery 25 in New Milford, CT, and has dedicated countless hours to supporting arts and culture in Sherman and surrounding towns.

Linda is a talented photographer who has taught many workshops and led numerous speaking engagements, always encouraging others to explore creativity and the arts.

If you know Linda or have been impacted by the arts community she helped build, please consider submitting a nomination or sharing this post with others.

Exploring Vermont Open Studio Weekend with a friend today and discovering so much incredible creativity along the way. šŸŽØāœØ

A must-see stop was the work of Ornaglyphology in downtown Bellows Falls. Her artwork is layered, imaginative, and full of personality. Be sure to visit her website and studio if you’re out exploring this weekend. You can also see one of her paintings at 4th Corner Foundation Gallery — another beautiful gallery destination worth the drive.

We also stopped by Kekic Glass where Nicholas Kekic creates stunning decorative and functional blown glass pieces. Truly one-of-a-kind craftsmanship and my go-to for unique wedding gifts. šŸ’™

There’s still time to explore studios, galleries, and artists across Vermont this weekend! šŸ‘†Open Studio Map Link is located in my bio.

Vermont Open Studio Weekend is here! šŸŽØāœØ

While I’m not officially participating in Open Studio Weekend this year, I’m grateful to have my work represented locally through wonderful creative spaces in Vermont.

You can currently find my Caron Designs kits at Gallery at the VAULT and two of my fused glass pieces at The Four Corners Gallery in Winham, VT.

This weekend is such a beautiful reminder of the creativity, craftsmanship, and artistic spirit that exist throughout Vermont. Wishing all the participating artists and studios a wonderful weekend filled with inspiration and visitors. ā¤ļø

A little glimpse into my studio on this rainy day!

Working on illustrations for a children’s book and slowly finding my rhythm with color, texture, and layering.

Funny enough… lately I’ve been watering down acrylic paints instead of using traditional watercolors. I love the richness and pigment it brings to the illustrations.

Still a work in progress — but this little parrot is starting to come to life 🦜

New paints just arrived from šŸŽØ

I’m trying out Golden Fluid Acrylics for the first time—these are the base colors I use to mix just about everything.

Think Paynes Gray, Titanium White, Burnt Umber, rich reds, yellows, blues, and greens, all the colors needed to paint and blend other colors.

There’s something about opening a fresh box of supplies—it feels like possibility.

Meanwhile, I’ve got a painting in progress behind me and kits spread across the table. This is pretty much what a real studio day looks like. A little messy, a little experimental, and always evolving.

I am curious to see how these paints change my process.

For my fellow artists, the palette: Paynes Gray, Titanium White, Burnt Umber Light, Alizarin Crimson Hue, Hansa Yellow Opaque, Naphthol Red Light, Quinacridone Magenta, Phthalo Blue (Green Shade), and Phthalo Green (Blue Shade) + acrylic mediums.

There’s something special that happens when you start with simple materials…

Wool. Water. A bit of color.

Over three weeks at The Mountain School at Windhall, those simple beginnings turned into something so much more—
exploration, creativity, and pieces that were completely unique to each maker.

It’s never just about what’s created.

It’s about slowing down.
Using your hands.
And discovering what’s possible along the way.

I shared more about this experience (and why I love teaching workshops like this) on the blog.

There’s something really satisfying about this part of the process…
Every Felted Mushroom Kit starts right here—
measuring wool, gathering materials, and carefully packing each piece by hand.

From the foam pad and felting needles
to the wooden base and printed instructions—
everything is thoughtfully put together so you can open your kit and just start creating.

It’s a little table full of possibility. šŸ„
