🍁 A little fall decorating and a little Christmas creativity! 🎄

Today I started working on my handmade Christmas cards using beautiful fall leaves I’ve been collecting and pressing. Yes, Christmas cards already!

Meanwhile, the house is all dressed up for autumn. Colorful leaves have found their way onto the chandelier and windows, along with some of my crazy little glass Halloween ornaments.

And those whimsical pumpkin dolls? I wish I could take credit for making them, but I can’t! I just love bringing them out every fall. 🎃

A little decorating, a little creating, and a whole lot of autumn color here in Vermont.

A little wool, a few acorn caps, and something sweet for fall. 🍂

One of my favorite things about creating is taking something simple from nature and turning it into something unexpected.

One of my favorite things about Vermont Open Studio Weekend is discovering the work of other artists. 🎨

Today I stopped to visit Lisa Johnson Arts in Norwich, Vermont, and this little painting caught my eye. I love the energy, the marks, and especially that wonderful color.

As an artist myself, there’s something inspiring about stepping into another artist’s world — seeing what they make, how they work, and coming home with a little piece that spoke to you.

If you’re out exploring the Open Studio tour this weekend, Lisa Johnson Arts is definitely worth a visit. And yes…I think this little painting may be coming home with me. ❤️

🍁 Vermont Open Studio Weekend is here!

My own studio won’t be open this weekend — I have a friend visiting from Connecticut, and she’s been looking forward to exploring Vermont’s country roads during one of the most beautiful times of the year. So I’ll be playing foliage tour guide for a bit. 😊

But you can still find my work while you’re out exploring!

🎨 Stop by Gallery at the VAULT in Springfield, where you’ll find my work along with the work of more than 125 Vermont artists and makers.

🖼️ And I’m excited that two of my paintings are being hung at Southern Vermont Arts Center for the upcoming Member Exhibition.

It feels like the perfect weekend to get off the screen, take the back roads, enjoy the color, and discover some Vermont art along the way.

Coming up with this year’s handmade Christmas card is proving to be quite the challenge! 🍂😂
My first concept didn’t exactly win over my husband, Bruce. So I tossed this little creation together and couldn’t stop giggling.
Bruce wasn’t nearly as amused. Apparently, he thinks his colleagues might question my sanity if this arrives in their Christmas cards! 🤣
Oh, the joys of being married to an fun, whimsical artist!
Back to the drawing board. Stay tuned… I’ll come up with something! 🎄🎨

🍂 It’s that time of year again… if you make your own Christmas cards!

I’m working on this year’s design, combining pressed autumn leaves, a watercolor pine branch and just a little touch of gold. 🎨✨

I had hoped to show you the finished design, but I’ve decided it needs something more: those beautiful, vibrant RED leaves that are just beginning to fall here in Vermont!

So, for now, I’m collecting and pressing leaves while I continue experimenting with the watercolor.

The other idea was to incorporate pressed clovers, but I think I’ll save that one for next year. 🍀

Maybe you’d rather skip the DIY and buy the felted acorns already finished! 🍂

We’ve got you covered. These colorful little acorns are finished and will soon be available online at Caron Designs.

Each one is handmade using felted wool and natural acorn caps, so they vary in size, shape and color — which is part of the fun.

Scatter them on a table, add them to a centerpiece, fill a little bowl, tuck them into a fall display… you decide! I can also make some with loops for hanging if there’s interest.

Would you decorate with these? And should I offer a hanging version too? 🍁
