AUGUST UPDATE

As we approach the end of the Summer session, I just want touch base on a couple of items.

Our August dance social will be this coming Friday, 8/14. Our featured dance for the lesson will be Salsa at 7:00 PM. The mixed dancing starts, per usual, at 8:00 PM. Since we had to cancel the July event, please make sure to sign up early so that we can guarantee our dancing. Discounted registration runs through the end of business on Thursday, 8/13. Make sure not to miss out!

We will have our usual long break for the month of September for group classes. Along with this, this year I have gotten involved with a community theatre group in Wi******er, VA. I am choreographing and performing in the Selah Theatre Project’s production of Come From Away.

This show is about the small towns in Newfoundland, Canada that had to rush in to help those whose planes were grounded there in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. It is a lovely show about people coming together, and I am proud to be a part of the production, especially as we are opening on the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

Some of you all have requested information on how to attend this production. We will be running the following days and times at the Vivienne L. Jackson Sanctuary for the Arts in Wi******er, VA:

Admission is $22.83 (includes $2.83 in online registration fees). Tickets and information can be found on the Selah Theatre Project Website. The space is small, so if you are interested, do not wait to get tickets.

On the Steps side of things, this will impact our dance social for September. Instead of running on the 2nd Friday, we will instead have our dance social on the 4th Friday of September, 9/25. Otherwise, this will be a normal event.

After the long September break, we will be back to group classes starting on 10/04/26. We are aware that Ida Lee is currently in the process of updating classes and private lessons for 2026 and beyond, especially for pricing. We have been blessed that Ida Lee kept our original pricing on these programs for over 20 years. I do not yet have the specifics of the programs, so I am presenting the information that we have now. It is possible that things may change in the next 30 days. I will update you all if there are changes as I am made aware of them.

I appreciate you all continuing to support my programs at Ida Lee and wherever else we continue to offer them.

Happy New Year!

I hope that everyone had an excellent holiday break. As we get rolling again, I am hopeful that we keep the strong participation that we have had in the last few months of 2025. I hope that you will stick with us throughout 2026.

The start of the year also brings the start of the Winter 2026 class season. Breaking the ice will be our January Dance Social on January 9th, 2026, at 7:00 PM. Our featured dance will be Foxtrot for the evening, followed by 2 hours of mixed ballroom and line dancing.

Ida Lee classes will start on Sunday, January 11th, 2026. Our offerings for this quarter include both of our line dancing classes, Ballroom 101, Rumba II, & Swing I. The enrollment window for these classes will be open until Friday at noon. As always, make sure you sign up early to ensure that your spaces get confirmed for these classes.

Our Fall season starts this weekend on October 5th!

Classes listings can be found below. Make sure to sign up by Friday, October 3rd to ensure your spaces in our program.

Our Halloween social will be on Friday, October 10th, 2025. If you would like to come in costume, please feel free to do so. We will not be holding the costume contest this year, so it is just for laughs and fun. Regardless of if you choose to come in costume, please join us for a great night of dancing.

We are working on bringing back our Charity Social in November for the 17th annual event. I hope to have more information on the event soon, so be on the lookout for an update coming your way.

I also want to make a request to you all. We are making a new push going into the end of the year to get more outreach for ourselves here as well as our Ida Lee partners.

If you have enjoyed your time with us, please help spread the word of mouth. If your friends have ever asked you about your dance classes, please bring them to one of our socials. If you take pictures at one of our dance socials, help by posting them on your social media. If you think I’ve done a really good job with you all, please leave us a review on Yelp or other review aggregator.
