POW! Scenes From My Love Life which closes today has been a dream for me. Each cast member has been beyond lovely to work with both onstage and off. Just an incredibly perfect group of people. The backstage crew have been equally wonderful. Just a perfect experience. The play was received better than I hoped. Sold-out every night. It was an incredible reminder of how it should always be and how I want to spend the rest of my professional life. I just want to spend my time working on projects with people I adore and respect and have those projects be well received by our incredible audiences. That’s literally all I want. The last 6 weeks have been pure joy and I’m just so grateful. It was exactly what I needed at this moment in my life. It’s very possible that today will be the last time I ever see the play performed again so I’m really looking forward to seeing it one last time today. This play, my first play, changed my life when it premiered August 4th 1994 in San Francisco. Had it flopped I might not have kept writing. So today I’m feeling very grateful and very sentimental and also very excited about the future and our next next two shows, PrEP’d and An Evening with Divine, two plays running in rep thru November. Thank you again South Florida for supporting live theater, gay theater, theater about s*x and all the work we are doing at Plays Of Wilton. I’m very proud of our output in the last 6 months with The Actors Off-Broadway, Family Tree, Daniel’s Husband, A Shonda The Musical and now Scenes From My Love Life. We would not be doing any of this work without your support so thank you, thank you, thank you!

Just waking up to read the lists of this years Silver Palm Winners. A few short years ago I moved here knowing no one and now I read the list of judges and winners and I personally know 95% of them and consider them to be friends and so many of them I’ve gotten to work with at The Foundry. So proud of all of them and so grateful to be part of this incredible community of smart, talented, funny, committed, complicated, hard working, inspiring artists. Congratulations to EVERYONE!

Congratulations to Bruce Linser on his two Carbonell nominations, can't wait to have you back at The Foundry! The Timekeepers by Dan Clancy and directed by Bruce is something I'm getting very excited about even though it's not til 2025. I can't believe I get to work with Dan and Bruce again and all because of the incredible generosity of the amazing Russell Vance who is making it all possible!

Waking up to a rave review for Scenes From My Love Life from FloridaTheaterOnStage.com
Thank you, Aaron Krause, Oline Cogdill and Bill Hirschman for everything you do.

“With sensitivity, impactful pauses, smart staging, and deft pacing (also, transitions between scenes occur with cinematic-like fluidity), Larsen directs a talented nine-person cast. It comprises Christopher Ross-Dybash, Garry Staegemann, John Crossan, Adam Clinard, Elan Ezra Harari, Joseph Guidetti, Matthew Almeida, Scott Jordan and Harry Redlich.

Each performer creates a distinct, believable character. They sound as though they’re saying Larsen’s dialogue for the first time with sincerity and spontaneity. The actors are also funny and unmask their characters’ vulnerabilities when necessary.”

Thank you, Joyce Schweitzer! This is lovely way to start the week! I’m so glad you and Geri Topple enjoyed A Shonda!

“Ronnie, Geri and I saw Shonda today. Wow! So powerful and our friends who were with us, loved it. They asked us to tell them about your other plays so they can go with us. It was definitely a WINNER 🏆. From your favorite le****ns, Joyce and Geri”

Oliver! We had an 11 year old boy in the front row tonight at A Shonda. He was with his grandmother. I brought him on stage so he could introduce himself as the youngest audience member and I asked him what brought him to the show and he said. “I have two Dads. They’re gay. They thought I would like it.” I said, ”where are your Dads right now?” He said, “Las Vegas!” He was funny and adorable and I told him we were dedicating tonight’s show to him. Kids at the theater always makes me emotional. Makes me want to do more family-friendly productions. I hope he likes the show!

It’s August!

I always get really sentimental and nostalgic in August cause I wrote my first play, Scenes From My Love Life, in August, 30 years ago, and my whole life changed. Writing plays was never on my radar but I wrote a play for fun in 1994, audiences bought tickets and they laughed so I kept writing.

This Sunday I’m celebrating 30 years of playwriting by throwing a little party at The Foundry after the matinee of A Shonda from 5pm - 7pm.

It’s important for me because 10 years ago I truly believed my theater career was over. I was living in Mexico with my husband, Melqui, and I wasn’t sure we’d ever be allowed to come to the states together.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that at 55 I would have the opportunity to be part of a thriving LGBTQ theater, Plays Of Wilton, a non-profit supported by incredibly generous audiences, donors and foundations.

Every day at The Foundry is a gift and I am so grateful that I get to do this work that could never happen without the amazing support from this incredible community.

Since January 1st we’ve put on 10 different shows. 10! It doesn’t seem real but we really did. We’ve produced revivals, world premieres, a show Off-Broadway and currently a new musical. 10 shows in 7 months. That’s how we spend the money you donate, that’s what the ticket sales pay for and that’s what we intend to keep doing as long as people keep showing up.

So thank you!

Thank you to the artists that consider the Foundry their home and thank you to everyone who buys tickets and donates. Without you none of this would exist.

So if you're free this Sunday stop by The Foundry between 5pm - 7pm and have some cake, ice cream and champagne and help us celebrate this milestone and allow me to thank you in person for giving me a life in the theater that I truly thought was over.
