ArtDaze students and families: Come along for a wild ride this summer as we travel across the beautiful country of Ireland!

From wild Atlantic coastlines to storybook villages, this 2027 Ireland trip is packed with unforgettable experiences! Travelers will explore Dublin, sail past the Cliffs of Moher, visit the Aran Islands, discover Galway, see sheepdogs at work, and explore historic mines and castles. In Northern Ireland, they’ll visit Giant’s Causeway, cross the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, see the Dark Hedges, and experience the history and culture of Belfast and Derry. We'll then head back south to visit the ancient monastic site at Glendalough in Wicklow, and the take in the beautiful landscapes of Waterford and Kilkenny!

Did you know that the name for the scales on a turtle’s shell are called scutes? 🐢

Today at ArtDaze, our K-2 students identified patterns all around the art studio before using crayons to draw a different pattern inside each scute of a sea turtle’s shell! Once each scute had its own special pattern, we used watercolor paints to fill in our turtles. The wax in the crayons repels the water, revealing the patterns through the paint in a process known as “watercolor resist”. Our students all agreed this was definitely some art magic!

Yesterday was a wonderful start to this year's afterschool art classes!

And if you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late! We still have a few spots available for young artists who'd like to join us. Afterschool art is a chance to get creative, learn new skills, try out all kinds of materials, and most importantly, have fun making art together each week!

We've added two more camp sessions before our final week of camp: ClayDaze Clay Camp and Color Explosion Value Camp!

Clay camp will be jam-packed with fun activities, and campers will even be able to make their own ice cream bowl and enjoy making homemade ice cream to serve in their creation on the last day of camp. It's going to be blast for sure- but there is a catch! In order to fill the kiln, this camp must have 5 registered campers to run, so please spread the word to your friends and family!

In the afternoon, Jessica Robl will be the instructor for another session of our value camps, with tickets at only $100 per child! Jessica is my coworker at Greenfield School, leading our Lower School's art and music programs, and I'm so excited to have her back at ArtDaze for another fun summer session. She's got so many fun projects in store for this week!
