Susanne Cochran Art Growing up in a small town in Germany, I was surrounded by the simplicity of rugged nature and naturally creative people.

That fact continues to shape the way I approach painting today. My practice is rooted in abstraction and the expressive potential of simple mark-making I am less interested in representing the visible world than in distilling it—to capture an essence rather than a literal image. Abstraction gives me the freedom to move beyond description and toward experience. I am interested in creating work that leaves room for interpretation and personal connection - an invitation to imagine!
