Some organizations don’t just say they believe in community… they live it every day. 💛

is one of those places.

I first connected with One Village Alliance a few years ago when I had the opportunity to speak to a group of teen girls through their “Girls Can Do Anything” initiative. It was an experience I’ll never forget.

More recently, while attending their Juneteenth Celebration, I found myself taking in more than just the event. The building itself tells a story.

From empowering artwork on the walls to programs that pour into youth and the community as a whole, every space reflects their mission of raising voices, building leaders, and creating opportunities.

That’s what a village looks like.

It’s people investing in people.
It’s art that inspires.
It’s a community choosing to uplift one another.

Thank you, , for continuing to create spaces where people can grow, belong, and thrive. 💛

Art Battle is so much more than a competition. It’s a platform where artists are encouraged to create, connect, and thrive. 🎨✨

One of the things I appreciate most about , , and is how intentionally they create opportunities for artists to share their work with the community.

🖼️ Artwork displayed on the walls is available for purchase.

🎨 The pieces created during the live Art Battle are auctioned before the night is over.

✨ The featured artist creates a live piece on stage that is also available for purchase.

🖌️ And there’s even a community art station where anyone—regardless of artistic experience—can pick up a brush and create something of their own.

That’s what building an arts community looks like.

It’s giving artists a place to:
• Create.
• Sell.
• Gain exposure.
• Connect with people who value their work.

If you’ve never experienced an Art Battle in person, I highly recommend adding one to your calendar. There’s something special about watching a blank canvas become a masterpiece while cheering artists on in real time.

Show these organizations some love by following , , and . Engage with their content, support the artists they spotlight, and if you get the chance… experience an Art Battle live. You won’t leave the same way you came. 💛

One of my favorite things about Art Battle Wilmington is discovering artists whose work stays with you long after the event is over. 🎨✨

During Round 1, I had the opportunity to watch local artist and owner Eunice Lafate bring her creativity to life on the canvas. Seeing artists who also create spaces for other artists to thrive is always inspiring.

I also found myself drawn to a beautiful piece by . It’s amazing how two artists can approach the same challenge with completely different perspectives, yet both leave a lasting impression.

That’s the beauty of live art. Every canvas tells a different story, and every artist invites us to see the world through their eyes.

I was hanging out in Philly with some friends when we accidentally stumbled upon Philadelphia Porchfest in West Philly. 🎶✨

And let me tell you… Philly was fully embracing the arts.

Musicians were performing on porches, in front yards, and at one point I looked up and saw people playing music on a rooftop. 😳👀

That’s one thing I love about Philadelphia. Creativity isn’t confined to galleries, theaters, or concert venues. It spills out onto the sidewalks, front porches, and neighborhood streets.

What started as a casual day with friends turned into an unexpected celebration of music, community, and the arts. 🎵❤️

Philly really knows how to turn an ordinary day into an experience.

The Author Fair hosted by at Rockwood Park & Museum was a reminder that creativity comes in so many forms. 📚🎨✨

I spent the afternoon browsing books, supporting local authors, and checking out artists who were displaying—and even creating—work live during the event.

One of my favorite surprises was stepping inside the Rainbow Records bus. 🎶✨

The walls and ceiling were lined with CDs and cassette tapes, and rows of albums instantly took me down memory lane. This 80’s baby was smiling from ear to ear.

And yes… I couldn’t leave without picking up a copy of Better Than a Touchdown by Jalen Hurts. 🦅📚

💚

Artist shoutout to and for sharing their creativity with the community. 🎨🙌🏾

Days like this remind me that the arts aren’t limited to one medium. Whether it’s a book, a painting, a song, or a story, creativity has a way of bringing people together.

The Grand Finale. 🎨🔥

After two incredible rounds, three artists from Round 1 and three artists from Round 2 returned to the canvas for one final battle of creativity.

What began as blank canvases evolved into a room filled with color, imagination, and artistic expression. Every artist brought their unique style, perspective, and story to the stage, reminding us that there is no single way to create.

As the final pieces came together, added another layer to the experience through spoken word, weaving together the energy of the evening and the artwork surrounding us. 🎤✨

This is why I love experiencing art in person. It’s not just about the finished piece—it’s about the journey, the community, and the moments that stay with you long after the event ends.

Congratulations to all of the artists who participated in Art Battle Wilmington: Battle of the Alumni. 👏🏾💛

✨ Art is meant to be experienced. ✨

Recently, I had the opportunity to check out in downtown Wilmington and it was such a vibe. 🎨✨

From the graffiti-inspired artwork on the walls to the boomboxes throughout the store, this 80’s baby was smiling the entire time. 😊📻

While there, I spotted artwork by and picked up a gorgeous pair of sunflower earrings from . 🌻💛

I love discovering spaces that bring together art, fashion, creativity, and community under one roof. And if you’re looking for something unique, they even offer custom designs.

Definitely a spot worth checking out if you find yourself in downtown Wilmington. 🙌🏾

Where do I even begin? 🫣🎨🔥

Round 2 of Art Battle Wilmington: Battle of the Alumni was packed with moments that made me smile, reminisce, and appreciate the creative community even more.

Art Battle Wilmington & Art Battle Philadelphia co-founder joined 10 other artists for a round full of talent and creativity.

Then there was the father-daughter duo, and , painting side by side. We love to see it. ❤️

As a Philly girl born and raised, gave me a pure moment of nostalgia while painting a SEPTA bus. It instantly took me back to where my love of art first began.

And I couldn’t stop watching work. Seeing him paint with a palette knife was mesmerizing. 👀✨

The craziest part?

The night wasn’t even over.

Six artists were still advancing to the final round. 🔥

This is why I love experiencing art in person. There is always a story, a memory, or a moment waiting around the corner.

Shout out to the featured artist from Art Battle Wilmington: Battle of the Alumni edition . 🎨🔥

One thing I love about live art is getting the opportunity to watch artists fully lock into their creative process in real time. From bold colors and layered details to pieces that make you stop and study them a little longer… every artist brings something different to the canvas. ✨

This featured artist definitely added to the energy of the night and reminded us that art is not just something you see… it’s something you experience. 🙌🏾🎨

Art Battle Wilmington celebrated one year in the city with a special “Battle of the Alumni” edition — and Round One came with energy from the very beginning. 🎨🔥

Even Art Battle Wilmington co-founder Irina Turner stepped into the battle alongside nine other artists for a fast-paced 20-minute round.

Some artists stood tall behind their easels while others hit the floor and locked all the way into their process. And the artwork? Full of vibrant color, abstract expression, and pieces that made you stop and take a second look. ✨

Artists like Sakana Walls & Damon Bain definitely had me walking a little slower just to take it all in. 👀🎨

That’s one of my favorite things about experiencing live art — seeing a blank canvas become something unforgettable in real time. 🙌🏾

See the next one in person on June 20th
