✨SAVE THE DATE!✨

Opera Wilmington’s 2025 gala transports you to Sevilla, an ancient city in Spain’s sunny south, and the setting for next summer's production of DON GIOVANNI.

Viva Sevilla! takes place at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30 in the ballroom of the Country Club of Landfall. In the spirit of Sevilla’s annual Feria (fair), we’ll provide plenty of Spanish-flavored song, dance and rhythmic music to inspire your inner romantic.

Along with the entertainment, you’ll enjoy a luncheon, silent and live auctions, and an opera-tunity to socialize with your fellow opera supporters.

Mark your calendar now! Tickets go on sale in January.

It's —a global day of generosity—and we need your help to meet our goal of producing the very best in live operatic performance in Wilmington, New Hanover County, and the southeast region.

We're on our way to raising the money needed for next summer's production of DON GIOVANNI, and what a cast we have: OW favorites John Dooley (Die Fledermaus, Magic Flute), Beth Stovall Gazda (Magic Flute, La Traviata), Sarah Wells (Hansel and Gretel), Garrett Reider (Tosca), and we're bringing back the delightful Thandolwethu Mamba, who sang the role of Baron Douphol in La Traviata. And meet some of our soon-to-be favorite singers: Maria Valdes, Brian McQueen and Miles Jenkins.

The link to donate is in the comment section, and on behalf of our cast, crew, production team, orchestra members, and our very hard-working board, THANK YOU for your generous support!

Friends of Opera Wilmington! Our excellent chorus master, Dr. Aaron Peisner, is offering free workshops in October on traditional Georgian music. Don’t wait to register; space is limited!

Dr. Aaron Peisner, Director of Choral Activities at UNCW, is offering three workshops in October on vocal music from the Republic of Georgia.

Dr. Peisner writes, "The idea behind these workshops is twofold: (1) I want to share my love of this beautiful musical tradition, and (2) I want to sing some Georgian songs that I've never sung before, and the only way to do that is with other singers! I have designed the workshops so that each is a stand-alone event. In other words, you can feel free to attend one, two, or all three of the workshops."

The workshops are open to anyone who is interested: community members, college and high school students, music amateurs and professionals alike. Attendees should have some singing experience, but formal choral experience or music reading skills aren't necessary.

It has been a month since we closed our 10th Anniversary production of TOSCA, but we're still caught up in that Puccini fever dream! Take a look at this terrific Spectrum news feature (thanks Rachel Boyd!), if you're missing the sounds of our amazing leads Shannon Kessler Dooley Kaufman, Tenor and Joshua Conyers Baritone!!

Opera Wilmington celebrates 10 years of productions amid a difficult economic climate for opera.
