TIM School of Dance is closed Monday September 7th in honor of Labor Day

As per our policies:

Holiday Closings & Cancellations: The studio will generally follow the holiday schedule observed by the traditional New Hanover County School System (not year-round schedule). There are some school holidays & teacher workdays that are NOT holidays at T.I.M. If a class is canceled due to unexpected &/or unannounced circumstances such as an illness, family emergencies etc., we will provide a make-up class. The studio does not provide make-up classes for inclement weather, power failures or any other natural act that is no fault of our own.

Any & all studio closings will be announced in the monthly newsletters, on studio website and/ or on the studio answering machine. (910) 799-3223 prior to the closing date. There are no tuition adjustments, deductions for vacations or short months or missed lessons as our schedule is planned so that each class receives the same number of classes per dance season. Please keep in mind that some months have 3 lessons & some months have 5. We do not charge extra tuition for that 5th week.

FINAL DAY!!! Have old dance shoes, leotards, or other dance items taking up space in your home?

TIM is kicking off the new dance season by making a difference, and we'd love your help!

Instead of letting those gently used items collect dust, consider donating them to support our dance community. Your donations can help dancers and families while giving these items a second life.

Thank you for helping us start the season with kindness, generosity, and community spirit!

TIM School of Dance Dress Code

We have noticed some dancers are attending class in inappropriate dance attire. Parents, please make sure your dancer is properly dressed out for dance class.

Attire & Shoe Requirements
The following clothing and shoe requirements apply to all dancers at Techniques In Motion, including both our Recreational and Company programs.

Please make sure your dancer arrives to class in the appropriate attire and shoes. Proper dance attire is an important part of dance training because it allows instructors to clearly see the dancer’s alignment, placement, and technique and provide appropriate corrections.

Just as a dancer wouldn’t attend hockey practice without skates, swim class without a swimsuit, or soccer practice without cleats, proper dance attire and shoes are an essential part of dance class. *If the students dress like dancers, they will feel like dancers, act like dancers & perform like dancers!!! Dancers work harder & stay more focused when properly dressed for class.

Lyrical & Ballet classes of all ages need to have leotard & tights or leggings. The t-shirts & shorts that are being worn are not acceptable.

Dress Code
Leotards and tights of any color and style are required for ballet and technique classes.

Underwear is not necessary with leotards and tights.

Tap & Jazz students may wear jazz pants over their leotard and tights.

Hip-Hop students may wear jazz pants over a leotard or shorts and a T-shirt.

Jeans, revealing clothing, and clothing that restricts movement are not acceptable.

Hair must be secured away from the face and pulled back appropriately for class.

Excessive jewelry should not be worn to class for safety reasons.

Male dancers should wear loose-fitting clothing for most dance classes to allow for stretching and movement.

Male ballet dancers should wear form-fitting pants and a sleeveless tank or appropriate fitted dancewear.

Adult students should wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement.

ACRO CLASS DRESS CODE

For safety and ease of movement, dancers should come dressed in comfortable, form-fitting athletic/dancewear.

Dancers may wear any tight-fitting athletic or dance clothing that allows for full range of motion.

Girls MUST wear a sports bra or dance top underneath any loose-fitting shirt.

No tights — please wear athletic shorts, leggings, bike shorts, or other appropriate dancewear.

Loose or oversized clothing should be avoided unless a fitted top is worn underneath.

Hair should be pulled back and secured away from the face.

Please make sure clothing is secure and appropriate for tumbling, inversions, and partner work.

Safety first! Proper-fitting clothing helps instructors safely spot dancers and allows dancers to move freely during acro training.

Shoe Requirements
Dancers should arrive with the appropriate shoes for their class. Proper dance shoes provide the support, protection, and traction needed to safely execute movements and allow instructors to teach correct technique.

Please make sure the dancers have the proper & correct color shoes for class & Recital Performances.

Shoe requirements are stated below, and most may be purchased at Dance Exchange (4406 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28403; #793-3116), or online. All shoes should be clearly marked with child’s first and last names and should not be worn outside the studio.

Dance. Give. Inspire. TIM Gives Back

At Techniques In Motion, we're more than a dance studio—we're a family. This season, we're inviting our dance community to help make a difference for fellow TIM dancers.

Have dance shoes, leotards, tights, shorts, or dancewear your dancer has outgrown? Bring your gently used items to the studio to help another TIM family.💙

TIM will also be donating dance shoes to help stock the collection.

🩰 Dancewear Share: Throughout the month, families are invited to "shop" from the donated items.

There are no set prices—instead, we ask that you make a donation in any amount that feels comfortable. Every dollar donated will go into the TIM Gives Back Fund to help TIM dancers and families experiencing financial hardship with dance-related expenses. Together, we can...✨ Dance.💙Give.🌟 Inspire. Every donation—whether it's dancewear, shoes, or a monetary gift—helps another dancer continue doing what they love. Thank you for helping us build a studio culture rooted in kindness, generosity, and community. At TIM, we truly believe that when we lift one dancer, we lift our entire dance family.

💙 Behind the TIM Staff | Part 2 💙

Every dancer has a beginning… and our amazing TIM staff had one too!

Long before they were teaching classes, creating choreography, encouraging dancers, and sharing their love of dance, they were little dancers with big dreams of their own. 🩰

They took those first steps, learned those first combinations, stumbled through those first turns, and discovered the joy that comes from doing what you love. 💕

Today, they get to pour that same passion, encouragement, and love into the next generation of dancers. 🌟

It’s pretty special to see where their journeys began and even more special to watch them help our dancers create their own stories along the way. ✨
