Boo!! So happy to announce that we will be opening back up tomorrow. It will be with limited hours and limited beer (full liquor though 😋), just for a few weeks, then picking up slowly as money comes in. Happy halloween!!
Because we also have limited seating, we need to increase our prices a bit and temporarily kibosh 75-cent mugs. Duh. They will be back, we promise, as we are safely able to expand our seating (working on permits for out front now).
Please be patient, kind and helpful during these difficult times. We need all of you good folks to survive but can only fit a small amount of you in the back at once, for now, so possibility of no entry or a wait is real. Feel free to message the respective bartender that night for a table reservation or message us here, my personal page, the group page or on Instagram if you would like to reserve seating for a couple hours.
These are the rules to keep everyone safe, make our jobs more pleasant and "the man" off our backs:
*no mask, no entry...period.
...masks must be worn at all times, masks may only be taken off while seated with the group you came with
*no indoor seating
...we only will have 3 seating areas out back for now. We will make every effort to come to you for drink orders, but if you need to come in, wear your mask. NO DRINKS INSIDE, leave them outside.
*STILL MUST have membership card and ID on you
*please throw away your own trash in proper bin out back. AND USE THE F**KING ASHTRAYS!!
*be kind to your server, and tip them. Everyone's hours have been cut drastically and everyone is risking their health to help keep this party alive. In most cases, we are your buddies, let's not have to get awkward. Wear your masks and respect social distance of 6 feet, don't complain about sh*t we have no control over and again, tip.
*we will not have internet for a few weeks so until my square swiper thingy arrives next week, we will only accept CASH, Venmo or PayPal (both handles are @sandyatopera)

Opera Room, unfortunately, will not be opening up today. The allotted square footage per person (outside only) restrictions set in place for bars, would only allow us to be able to serve 3 people (and one guy/gal would have to be alone in the back yard).
Also, I need to get back in town, gather my bearings, see what staff I have left and figure out how to re-open safely. A 1 day notice just wasn't enough time to get all that done.
I feel that Halloween time would be a much more appropriate time for us to reopen. Then maybe, restrictions on outdoor space will be a bit more lax and make it worth turning on the lights and inviting some of you ghouls back (Like 6 f**king feet apart, as it's been!).
Please don't f**k this up for us and your other favorite bars. WEAR YOUR MASKS!

Just paid mine and rent is due on the 15th. It's wrong, should be all or nothing. The justification of keeping bars closed, having same precautions and occupancy restrictions as restaurants, does not make sense to me but I'm not one to bitch too much about stuff like this, I reserve my battles for other stuff...I do need to pay rent and bills though. I have still gotten ZERO financial help from gov't. Our fabulous regulars saved us last month in t-shirt sales.
Since I'm assuming there are still a couple months before bars will be allowed to open, I need to get creative. I'm not allowed to sell our usual, "booze and a good times" combo, the only thing I am able to offer at the bar is space. I have a bit of it and it's in a prime(ish), downtown location.
I'm thinking about renting the upstairs and creating a couple areas downstairs for retail or art studio space, artists market, bike shop, etc...really anything that would do well downtown in the Summer. If I rent to 3 or 4 individuals, we could have specific days each person is there selling everyone's stuff, for example. Upstairs can easily be completely shut off from the rest if someone wants something more private. I'll start selling bottles TO GO behind the bar. I think it could be a cool little community market for now. If this works, I'm thinking about turning upstairs into a permanent art market/retail spot and these renters would have 1st dibs.
I'm just brain storming but if anyone of you have any ideas or know anyone that may be interested in a downtown retail rental space, please let me know. Please share if you like.
