Mics Wide Open

Mics Wide Open Wilmington-based Arts collective intent on providing spaces and platforms for artists while also serving the community.

Come down to Bottega on Princess Street the second Saturday of every month for Fresh Ink, an open mic for all artists, writers, comedians, playwrights, hosted by Benjamin Baker. The fourth Saturday of every other month, we descend on Bottega again to host the Not So Secret Secret Show, an open mic hosted by The Fifth Horseman guaranteed to bring out some of the electric, heartfelt wordsmiths in th

e area. On the alternate fourth Saturday we host our Mic's Wide Open Soul Slam, a competitive, spirited, fun, and thanks to the talents of host TMi, often dramatic. Poets pay to enter the pool of slam artists, and 5 audience volunteers vote to eliminate them, with the winner of 3 rounds taking home the pot! Mics Wide Open Members and Affiliates:

Rather we announced it or not, Joy “Livity” James WAS and IS not just Mics Wide Open, she WAS and IS the Wilmington Poetry community.

In case this would interest anyone... the national poetry slam is in Denver CO Aug 8-12... currently, tickets round trip to Denver are literally less than $200 rn from RDU. I think I'm going to make that trip (especially with Andrea Gibson hosting the LGBTQIA open mic on Aug 9th!), so if anyone else was interested, maybe we could save some money with lodging, etc. Hit me up if this sounds like your kind of thing! ☺️😘
