"My Best and Forever Memory:

3-14-14 With UFO

Proposal Story:

I reached out to the band UFO (whom we love) and asked them if they would be a part of my/our special day: They agreed.

Here was the plan.
Coincidentally it was my birthday - so here how it was laid out. During the set the band was to ask if there was a Tim in the audience that was celebrating a birthday, from there It was on me to make the proposal happen:

Here's how it played out

I arranged with the management that a table reservation was to be right next to the stage. We arrived and had dinner and had several cocktails, during that time the band was texting me. My soon to be fiancee said who is texting you, so I used work as the excuse.

The band told me it was song (4) in the set that they would make the birthday announcement. My heart was pounding out of my chest, and then the time came.

The band asked if there was a birthday boy out there named Tim. I looked at my lady and asked...What the "F" did you do?? She looked at me (like a deer in the head lights) and said "she did nothing". I asked her again what did you do to me, and she said (LOL) "there must be another Tim here".

At this time I put My hand up and said I am Tim (all pre-planned with the band).

They said Happy Birthday to me and then I asked if I could speak for a minute.!!!! You could have heard a pin drop.. I stood up.. (getting emotional just typing this). Gina looked at me and said "what are you doing - with this look in her eyes "are you out of your mind"

I pulled the ring out of my pocket, and asked her if she would marry me (now tears in my eyes typing this). She looked at me, it took a few seconds for her to process what I was doing....and she said yes. Once she said yes (I will remember this as long as I live) all I could hear was an "awwwwwww" from the audience and then applause. We kissed, and then UFO played "You Make Me Smile" by Chicago.

We had so many random people come up to us and congratulate us, it was awesome.

I will never forget this night, Gina will never forget it, and everyone we tell, thinks it's so cool on how I proposed to the love of my life.

Dear WCL Friends:

This morning we officially announced that World Cafe Live at the Queen in Delaware will close its doors on May 25, 2017. I would like to thank all of our staff, devoted fans and everyone who supported us in Wilmington over the past six years. It has been an honor to “light up the Queen” and bring her majesty back to life in 2011 as a world-class entertainment, dining and events venue. We are proud of the role we have played as a catalyst for revitalizing downtown Wilmington, although we had hoped the downtown renaissance would have grown at a more rapid pace. Despite our best efforts to make the Queen a seven-day-a-week operation like our Philly venue, we have not been able to generate the revenue required to sustain such an ambitious business model.

Our plan now is to focus our efforts on continuing to operate our thriving World Cafe Live venue in Philadelphia as well as to launch “World Cafe Live Presents,” an initiative presenting WCL concerts and events at other venues in and outside the region. This offsite concept is one that has intrigued us for years and we’re excited to start pursuing those opportunities.

Between now and May 25, World Cafe Live at the Queen will continue to present great shows and events, including Marc Broussard, Mothership, Gad Elmaleh, KT Tunstall, this year’s Shine A Light concert fundraiser benefitting the Light Up the Queen Foundation, JD McPherson, Modern Baseball, the Subdudes, James McMurtry, Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn, Carbon Leaf, Drive By Truckers and a few more to be announced soon. To celebrate WCL’s role as a “clubhouse” for the local music community, on May 25 there will be a free final show featuring performances by many of the Brandywine Valley’s most cherished groups and performers.

We look forward to seeing you again in Wilmington on or before May 25th, and hope to see you in Philly again and again for a long time!
