Between events, our Facilities Manager, Dave Melton, has been hard at work on another special project inside our historic Church Building. 🔨🪟

Believe it or not, only three pieces of the original stained glass from the 1800s were left behind in the building. The largest of those pieces has been displayed in our Manse House for years, but we’ve always wanted to find a way to put it somewhere more people could enjoy it.

We’ve been carefully preparing a new permanent home for it above the bar in the Church Building. Once installed, the stained glass will be backlit on a dimmer, creating a beautiful focal point while showcasing another piece of the building’s incredible history.

Next week, we’ll carefully move the stained glass into its new home, where it can hopefully be enjoyed for generations to come.

The last photo is an AI mockup of what the finished project will look like. We can’t wait to see it come to life!

Jay & Tara Tatum, owners of the Brooklyn Arts Center, recently headed to Maker’s Mark in Loretto, Kentucky, alongside an incredible group of friends and local business owners for our annual Spirit of the Cape Fear Private Selection.

Joining us were the owners of Front Street Brewery; the owner of the group behind Rebellion, Commodore Public House & Kitchen, and Fox’s Hole in the Wall; photographer Matt Ray, co-owner of Starling Bar; and Kemp Burdette of Cape Fear River Watch.

Together, we spent the day at Maker’s Mark creating a one-of-a-kind Private Selection that will make its way back home to Wilmington for Spirit of the Cape Fear—our annual fundraiser benefiting Cape Fear River Watch.

Our bottles will be ready just in time for the big night:

📅 Friday, March 5, 2027
📍 Brooklyn Arts Center

Save the date! It’s a weekend to celebrate the Cape Fear River, our community, and a truly American spirit—while partnering with a brand that shares our appreciation for sustainability, community, craftsmanship, and history.

🥃🌊 Bourbon with a purpose. Spirit of the Cape Fear.

All proceeds from the event benefit Cape Fear River Watch.

More details coming soon. Cheers, friends!

A little piece of history behind the bar. 🎹✨

Our original piano dates back to the 1800s and has now been repurposed as part of the bar back, where our glassware sits today. We love finding ways to preserve the history of this incredible building while giving it new life. 🥃
