SO PROUD!

CFA came home with about half the available awards.
It's a testament to the students' talent and hard work as well as the tireless (which actually mean often very very tired) efforts of my amazing creative team; Mr Fancy, Ms Kate, and Ms Aimee.

There were so many magical moments this weekend. Too many for this post. But I will definitely note that a senior came up to me Saturday night before the party/awards and said, "Thank for making us be so professional."
Me (in my head): AAAAAHHHHH!
And then he said, "I'm kicking myself I didn't do this before my senior year!"

Then there's the freshmen that seemed to have a transformative experience.

All around, it was an incredible weekend.

Our students were also recognized with the NCTC Community Service Award which honors organizations that demonstrate outstanding commitment to the growth and vitality of North Carolina’s theatre community. CFA was the only school able to donate for this award. TO BE CLEAR, the fundraising was organized and executed by our International Thespian Officers. This was totally student driven. The entirety of both companies got to go up and be photographed together.

What an extraordinary way to round out the season...brilliant performances by magical Matilda, Jr middle schoolers, a set designed and built by high school students, nearly 3 sold out houses, and lots and lots and lots of love!

Why the 2:30 AM post? Well, I just got home from our 2023 NCTC trip and I just couldn't wait until morning to share with you all how proud I am of our students! Their talent and hard work absolutely shone and the entirety of the conference went out of their way to let them know it. Whether is was riotous laughter and applause during the performance, compliments back stage from our host school or NCTC representatives, or students literally rushing up to them to congratulate them throughout the weekend, the love and appreciation for their incredible work was palpable. Not to mention, they were respectful, inclusive, kind, clean, supportive of all the other schools and shows, and made an impression as not only a talented group, but a dignified one.

THIS WEDNESDAY FOR FREEEEEEEE
Come to a cookout and then to see our NNorth Carolina Theatre Conference (NCTC)preview performance!!

7 PM in the CFA FAC (did I mention for FREEE??)

We will present two 45 minute productions for YOU to see before we take them on the road this weekend. Please come support our amazing company as these talented actors, designers, stage managers, and all around awesome students take you on two very different adventures.
NCTC 1
ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTERN ARE…merely characters in a larger story (Hamlet…heard of it?) in which they have no say. Part Shakespearean tragedy, part Laurel and Hardy comedy routine, part Waiting for Godot absurdity, this play calls fate, free will, art, reality, communication, and the very constructs of theatre into question, all the while leading two most honorable and inept characters on their path to their unfortunate, unavoidable, infamous fate.
NCTC 2
PUFFS is a hilarious parody of a familiar magical story in which three potential heroes are just trying to make it through a familiar magic school that proves to be very dangerous for children. Alongside them are the rest of Puffs, a group of well-meaning, loyal outsiders with a thing for badgers. It’s truly a WANDerful play.
