Hard work.
Work is hard.

I got caught up in the game, the race. It made me forget about the hustle and the heart. Creating for the joy of it, creating with that lizard brain part that does it out of compulsion and desire, is the only way to avoid burnout.

And I burned out.

Interior design is the art of feeling a space. Designers walk in and discover the areas of your house that need warmth and energy or cool and peace. They look for textures that enhance your feelings as you live in your space. I am certainly not an interior designer, but I do look at your life to decide how my pieces can make it better.⁣

I look for the things that are missing.⁣
I look for spaces that have structure and function, and I find ways to add energy that grounds you.⁣
⁣
When you look around your home, you’ll notice that there are places where your energy flows past. You rarely stop there, it’s not a place you take time. I look for those places to add my pieces. I look for ways to add organic, warm, living energy to expand that space into a place you want to spend your time.⁣

Carving Techniques to save your fingers, your wood, and your time.

The best way to learn how to carve is just start carving! But as you do start slow and make sure you’re learning safety practices before the knife teaches you the hard way.

There’s just something soothing about handling sharp objects. It requires total presence. If your mind wanders, your hand slips!

I like to make sure my knives can withstand the toughest wood grains. My best advice for a proper knife-span — maintenance is KEY. I’m still learning and have made an ‘oops’ in the last few weeks by NOT caring for my knives properly:

- keeping blades covered in their leather sheaths
- polishing and oiling
- wiping the blade after Greenwood carving.

Maintain your investment (no matter how big or small) and keep your knives cleaned and sharpened.
