This past Saturday I made myself get out of my comfort zone and go explore other parts of the state and meet new people. I made my way up to Greensboro to do a trash clean up with . They are a pretty new organization so everyone go follow them and give them all your love and support. The passion and the knowledge is absolutely amazing and beautiful! Their river runs into ours so the work they are doing does affect us too here in the cape fear. Thank you to for donating your boats so I and others could join. I know when it’s time for me to go and buy a kayak this is where I’m going. They are kind, nice, helpful and knowledgeable. I’m not sure how much trash was pulled out of the water but I know it was a lot and so much was left behind. I of course brought a few treasures of my own home. A plastic dump truck, an assortment of balls to add to my collection of balls and one in soul to add to my shoe collection. Afterwards I made my way over to who is an 18ft troll made from reclaimed wood. She is 1 of 7 that lives in the trees here in NC. I was in awe standing there. But mostly inspired thinking “I CAN do this whole art thing!” “I CAN make cool things people appreciate and love” “I CAN make a difference too.” Overall I had a wonderful experience being around others that also care about our environment. We all have different walks of life and ways of caring for the environment but every one of us makes a difference. I feel happy, fulfilled, inspired and grateful for community.

Sometimes I look in the mirror (my inner self) and all I see is this broken mess. It’s so broken I can barely see my reflection (who am I). And sometimes I can’t even see it at all.
Then there is always somebody that comes across my path, sees me and says wow what you see as broken is the beautiful parts about you. I am even learning how to be that somebody for myself.

The other day I was just having a day of feeling shattered and just an absolute broken mess. I made myself go out for a walk and I found this mirror. Perfectly representing the way I was feeling. It is so inspirational to me because I know it looks broken and like it has no more purpose but to me it has a huge purpose. Making me believe that my broken shattered self also has purpose. We all have purpose.

I don’t know what or how I’m putting it back together again but you best believe that it is going to be one of the most beautiful things I ever make.

Individuality is healthy

The story of a bobby-pin is one that has intrigued me for years. They go on so many ventures. They are used by so many different types of people and for many different things.

About a year ago I decided to start collecting them as I came across them. I have found them in parking lots, floor of stores, bathrooms, airbnbs I clean, parks, restaurants. They literally are every where. And every single one of these came from a different person.

That to me is inspiring. Our individuality is healthy. What we do matters. Each of our uniqueness is what makes up this beautiful world we live in. We all have a story, background and purpose.

The zombie killer

In my opinion this is by far the coolest thing I’ve ever made!
It has been in the works for a good bit of time and I’m so happy to finally call it complete.

This is a gift to one of my nephews. It is him and his brother.

It started as just the car. Which is cool in itself but it seemed so empty. So I decided to add the boys to it. Such a good idea. Also made it even more personal.

When I say I nailed their personalities I mean right on the head. Looks just like both of them. The detail of them is insane to me. I don’t know how I managed to pull it off. I blew my own mind 🤯Maybe because I know them so well. 🤷‍♀️ Anybody else that knows my nephews I know you can see it too.

Anyway… The wheels roll so it is an actual functioning toy car. Steering wheel turns. The tooth pick launcher on the back is bad ass. Shoots ridiculously far. Weapons come out.
And the boys have magnets on their butts to hold them into their seats.

Maintain your brain. Practice self care.

This is something I’m actively working on in my personal life. I have a thousand thoughts running through my brain at all times. Sometimes they get overwhelming and I feel like I can’t handle myself. I have learned and am learning. That if I take care of myself and check in with myself, my thoughts are much clearer and easier to navigate.

You are worth it. Love yourself.
