And a little food. Don’t forget the food. I could just sit all day and watch the pure joy this boy has when he has a little food out in front of him … but who has time for that? Especially with winter knocking on our door. Plus, I can only imagine how much rounder he might be if given the opportunity to eat all day!🤪

So, if you find yourself stressing like us trying to get those last pressing items marked off “the getting ready for winter” checklist, slow down a minute and think of those cute little flapping ears enjoying every single morsel placed before him and strive to be like Elvis taking a little time to appreciate with just as much gusto the small pleasures of life God has sent your way.

These little ones sure have enjoyed having more space to flit around in this summer in their new aviary. It’s been a joy to watch them experience a little bit of freedom!

Unfortunately, with winter coming our way, we’ll be moving them back inside so we can keep them warm and safe from the freezing temperatures we get here. Maybe we can come up with a more feasible way to heat the aviary once we get connected to the grid. Until then, we’ll pull out our biggest cages to give them as much freedom inside as we can.

Introducing our newest employees, Gray Gray and L’il Bear (also known as Kitty Kitties). Hopefully, they will be the best barn/store cats in Alaska and will eradicate all these mice who have made themselves quite at home around here this summer. And if not, they sure are cute and fun to watch!

Baby ducks seemed to be glad to get to join the big ones in the pond today! Mama duck and a goose took turns sitting on eggs for four months, and we figured none of them were fertile. Then when it starts to get cold, these guys hatch! We had to take them inside for a while because they kept going to the other side of the fence away from mama and would get cold. They have been back outside for a couple of weeks now but were still too small to keep inside the fence. Today, they had grown enough to graduate to the big duck and goose pond! They seem pretty happy about it! 🦆🦆🦆 🦆

Thank you, Beckie. We have been quite pleased with the quality of the straw ourselves. We love watching the chickens and pigs on fresh straw day, too!! They absolutely LOVE it!

We use straw to insulate the dogs during the winter months. They love fresh straw day (it’s like clean sheets!)

I have found the best straw through Alaska Farm Supply for at least the last 5 years. It’s clean, not dusty, certified w**d free, all the things we want for our athletes.

We are so excited that Sheep Creek Lodge is going to be opening back up to regular hours again soon. It has been such a blessing to see the community rallying behind them and supporting them during this time of uncertainty for the lodge. I know they greatly appreciate your patience and understanding with not being consistent with their hours. Some things just can’t be helped.

Unfortunately- we are CLOSED today 10/4 and Monday 10/5.
It is just too cold to run our outside sink.
We are still SO close to opening back up - theyre working SO hard out there - so stay tuned for when we are able to open back up. ❤️
