Join The Capitol Chordsmen at our annual Spring Show - A Love Song! We're pleased to announce that we'll be bringing in the 2013 Land O' Lakes District Quartet Champs, Kordal Kombat! We will have 2 shows, both on May 30th- An afternoon show at 2:00 PM as well as an evening show at 7:00 PM. As always, this will be a FREE concert, however a goodwill donation is always appreciated! We hope to see you there!

Happy Barbershop Quartet Day!! We’re celebrating our 14th barbershop quartet day as a quartet with some photos from our 14 years together, and by performing two shows this weekend! Come catch us at 7:30 pm tonight in Detroit Lakes, MN at the Holmes Theater, or tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 pm at the Fergus Falls Center for the Arts with the Heart O’ Lakes Harmony Chorus!

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of our heroes, Bob Dowma, the legendary tenor of the Happiness Emporium. It was an honor for all of us to have had the opportunity to know him and sing with him. You will be sorely missed, Bob; thanks for everything!

It is with great sorrow that we share the news of the passing of Bob Dowma, esteemed tenor of the 1975 International Quartet Champions, Happiness Emporium. Bob’s soaring high harmonies, deep commitment to the art of barbershop singing, and decades-long involvement in the barbershop community brought joy to countless voices and audiences.

His legacy includes not only championship performances and cherished barbershop arrangements, but also inspiration and mentorship to generations of singers.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Bob’s family, his wife, Naomi, quartet brothers, friends, and all who were touched by his music.

We’re singing in Appleton, MN next week; come check it out!

The Summer Concert season is almost here! The Swift County Concert Band kicks off the 2025 season Tuesday, June 3 at the Riverview Park bandstand in Appleton. AmVets Post 151 will be presenting the colors. The Appleton Lions Club will be serving refreshments. Concert time is 7:00 pm. In case of inclement weather, the '52 Wing Auditorium will be the backup location. Listen to KLQP Tuesday afternoon if the weather is a factor. Bring a friend and a lawn chair and help get the Appleton Summer Concert Series off to a great start!

Jay has been singing barbershop harmony his whole life and has been a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society for 41 years. He loves being part of the barbershop community and sharing his experience and talents with such a fun group of men.
