Back at it with another piece for a repeat client! 🤍

I gave this table a complete transformation—the base is painted in Chicken Salad by Mélange Paints for the perfect moody, earthy backdrop, while the top got a rich coat of General Finishes Water-Based Wood Stain in Walnut. Finished off with General Finishes High Performance Topcoat in Satin for a smooth, durable finish that’s ready for family dinners!

(I wasn’t dragging this beast into my house for pictures, so enjoy the AI generated photo to see what it would look like in a home!)

I gave this gorgeous Bassett lowboy a serious upgrade by pairing its rich, warm wood drawer fronts with a sleek frame painted in Jett Black by Mélange Paints. The bold contrast makes those natural grain patterns pop like never before!

Introducing: Hall Refined Design JR. 👏

My older son (12 years old) decided he wanted to try his hand at refinishing a piece of furniture, and I think it’s safe to say he understood the assignment. 😉

He chose the color, did the refinishing, styled the piece and photographed it himself. And honestly… I’m pretty impressed. 🥹

I love seeing him develop his own eye for design and take pride in creating something from start to finish. And that navy?! 👌🏼 It’s a favorite from Mélange Paints - Stars at Night 💙

Now, if only he could use that same eye for design to keep his own bedroom looking this nice… 😂😂

Pretty proud of this guy! 🥹

My younger son, who’s 10, has been wanting to refinish something with me, so I let him take the lead on this old sewing table.

He chose the color and the new hardware, and I helped him modify the top so it doesn’t swing open anymore (since there’s no actual sewing machine going back in it), along with some of the sanding and prep.

But the painting? All him. 👏

Then I asked if he wanted to stage and photograph it himself.

I showed him how I edit my photos, too—brightening them up and making them look their best, while being careful not to change the actual color of the piece.

And I’d say he’s been watching me do this for a while, because he did a pretty great job shopping the house for things to style it with—and somehow managed to get most of the same angled shots I usually take.

Of course, I couldn’t resist staging and photographing it the way I would have, too. Swipe through to see his photos compared to mine.

I think he may have been paying a little more attention than I realized!

We even talked about pricing it and figuring in the cost of the paint and supplies so he can see what his actual profit will be.

Now I’m just wondering what he’s going to spend his profits on. 🤔😂

✨ A beautiful second life for this vintage bed ✨

There’s just something about the details on this one — those intricate wood spindles, turned posts, and that gorgeous original wood grain. 🤎

I gave it a little refresh with Howard’s Restore-A-Finish in Dark Walnut, bringing the warmth and richness back to the wood while keeping all of its vintage character.

Please note: side rails are not included. This is for a full sized bed, however, the headboard has mounting holes that may allow attachment to a metal bed frame to accommodate a queen size bed.

✨ From tired to timeless ✨ (And available!)

This vintage tallboy had great bones, but it needed a fresh start. It’s now finished in Hannah’s Green by Mélange Paints, a rich, sophisticated green that feels both classic and current. Paired with new brushed brass hardware, it’s ready for another generation of use.

Sometimes all a well-made piece needs is a little vision. 💚

From desk to nightstands ✨

These started life as a single desk, but I saw the potential for something a little different. I removed the center section, cut off the top drawer to bring them to bedside-table height, and transformed the two ends into a matching pair of nightstands.

They’re finished in a custom blend of Melange Paints Turtledove Taupe and Knapsack Khaki—a soft, warm greige that shifts beautifully throughout the day—and updated with antique brass k***s.

And my favorite part? These ones are staying with me 😁 After all that cutting, rebuilding, and painting, I couldn’t let them go. 🤍

This antique dresser had good bones, but the drawers were sticking, sagging, and showing every bit of its age. After a full refresh, it’s ready for many more years of use.

Painted in a custom blend of Melange Paints Heirloom White + Golden Hour to create the softest buttery cream—a subtle yellow that feels warm, timeless, and not too bright. Finished with new antique brass k***s for a classic look.

Beyond the cosmetic makeover, I repaired and adjusted all of the drawer glides, removed countless old nails from the drawer runners, and addressed years of wear so the drawers operate much more smoothly and won’t continue grinding away at the wood. As always with older pieces like this one, not all dings and dents were filled so as to keep its original charm.

One of my favorite kinds of transformations: preserving a beautiful old piece while making it functional again. 🤍

I originally planned to keep the top of this beauty stained, but the finish had other plans in the final stages of top coating. So… I trusted the process and went all in on paint — and I’m so glad I did!

Finished in Restoration Bronze by Melange (coming back in July with a new name: Heartwood), this vintage dresser got a complete refresh with updated hardware, a rich moody tone, and a much cleaner, modern feel while still keeping all that character.

Sometimes the best design decisions happen after the original plan falls apart 🤍
