Please join us every fourth Thursday from June through September for Poetry in the Julia de Burgos Park, located at "Poet's Corner" (the intersection of Jackson Street and Curbstone Way) in Willimantic, CT. All readings begin at 6:30 p.m., except for the September reading, which begins at 6:00 p.m.

Poetry in the Park is a project of the Curbstone Foundation. Readings are free. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Open mic usually follows. Our inclement weather location is the Windham Senior Center. Check for updates (on day of reading) at facebook.com/CurbstoneLiteraryProject

V. Penelope Pelizzon’s A Gaze Hound That Hunteth by the Eye (Pitt Poetry Series, 2024) is a TLS Book of the Year and one of LitHub “Favorite Poetry Collections” of 2024. Her first book, Nostos, won the Poetry Society of America’s Norma Farber First Book Award; her second, Whose Flesh Is Flame, Whose Bone Is Time, was a finalist for the Anthony Hecht Poetry Prize. Pelizzon’s awards include a 2019 Hawthornden Fellowship, a 2012 Amy Lowell Traveling Scholarship, the 2012 Center for Book Arts chapbook award, and a “Discovery”/ The Nation Award. She is a Professor of English at the University of Connecticut.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket.
Open mic follows.

In case of inclement weather, the reading will be held at the Windham Senior Center, 1 Jillson Square.
