Music Together Williamsburg

Music Together Williamsburg Research-based, internationally recognized early childhood music program for infants through kindergarteners and the adults who love them.

Emphasizes live, community music-making through developmentally appropriate activities. Fun, varied family music. Music Together Williamsburg believes that all children are musical. All children can learn to sing in tune, keep a steady beat, and participate with confidence in the music of our culture, provided that their early environment supports such learning. Introducing them to a rich variety

of tempos, meters, and tonalities while they are in the critical learning stage of birth through kindergarten is essential to a child’s musical growth. By supporting children's music potential, we give them the gift of a lifetime of musical self-expression. Weekly 45 minute mixed-age classes of six to twelve students participate with caregivers in developmentally appropriate music-making experiences including singing, chants, small and large movement activities, and instrument play. Interactions are caregiver-child based, and families can all attend together, including parents, grandparents, nannies, siblings, and babysitters. Classes are non-performance oriented, live-music making experiences that are fun for all and expose children to a rich variety of music, including to the traditional music of our culture. Caregivers are guided, through song and movement teaching, to help them learn to parent and play musically with their children at home. All families receive a take-home songbook and two CD's for use at home and in the car.
