When the angel Gabriel visited Mary, he delivered an incredible invitation: she had been chosen to be the mother of Jesus.

Mary was surprised and had questions, but she listened, believed in God, and ultimately responded:

“Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” Luke 1:38

“The Invitation” is a reminder that God has extended a unique invitation to each of us to take part in His story. How will you respond?

We love our littlest students!

In class 1, we focus on learning through play with props and obstacle courses that teach ballet foundations in a manner that’s digestible for little developing brains.

Thank you Ms. Sarah for the patience and love you pour into these kiddos!

Thank you parents for trusting us to teach your 4-6 year olds and believing us when we tell you that all the colorful props are actually teaching them something!

This semester’s theme is titled “The Invitation” — a reminder that God invites us to participate in His redemptive story.

In classes, our students are learning about Jesus’s birth, which was God’s invitation to humanity to live a renewed life with Him.

Just as He invited Mary, Joseph, the Shepherds, and the Wisemen to play a role in Jesus’s birth, God is inviting YOU to be a part of the next chapter in His story.

We can’t wait to share the journey with you this December. You’re invited! ✨

Parents, we got to watch your students step out of their comfort zones, make new friends, and learn new skills. Teaching them is truly a joy!

Grateful for everyone who prayed, planned, and showed up for our summer teacher intensive!

Shouting an especially BIG THANK YOU to our friends Mosaic Academy of Performing Arts for guest instructing, teaching this piece, and creating space for our leaders for worship and receive. We love you guys!

DANCERS: fall semester starts in less than 2 WEEKS, and this intensive got us pumped. We can’t wait to see you! 🎉👀

Meet one of the newest members of our team, Hannah Croft! This fall she will be teaching the lively bunch in Class 2.

Get to know her
- Hannah has been dancing since she was 4! 🎉
- She enjoys horseback riding, taking care of her pony, golfing and coloring 🍃
- She says if she was an animal she would be a cat because she’s sassy but can be caring and playful 🐈‍⬛
- Her favorite bible verse is Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Meet one of the newest members of our team, Julia Campbell! This fall she will be teaching the energetic kids in Class 3.

Get to know her
- She has been with IHS for 6 years! 🎉
- She loves music wether she’s playing it on the piano or spinning records, volleyball, reading, being with her friends, and trying new adventurous things 🎶
- She said “if I were an animal I’d be specifically MY cat Tiger because I love to sleep but I also enjoy making new friends.” 🐈
- Her favorite bible verse is Isaiah 40:31 because it’s a reminder that trusting in God gives us renewed strength, hope, and perseverance even through life’s hardest seasons.

Meet your Class 6 and Class 4 Instructors

Meet Emma Sprung! She is the director of Overflow, our dance and discipleship program designed to train up older students as leaders and followers of Christ. This semester, along with her director role, Emma will continue to teach Class 6. We are blessed by her passion, expertise, and creativity as she pours into our most experienced students!

Get to know Emma
- She started IHS in 2006 when she was 5 years old and hasn’t stopped dancing since! This will be her 20th year as part of the IHS family and her 9th year teaching classes.🎉
- When she’s not dancing or jamming out to music, she love playing games, spending time with family and friends, going on walks outside, reading, and taking naps.
- If she were an animal, she thinks she would be a dog. 🐕 She’s a loyal and friendly companion, she gets playfully dramatic and enthusiastic about random things, she listens (sometimes) to rules and directions, and she loves food and naps.
- One of her favorite Bible passages is Romans 8:31-39. It reminds her of God’s glorious sovereignty and strength over all creation. He is by her side fighting for her and no one can stand in His way or destroy His unconditional love for her.🩷

Meet Shiyloh Mitchell, she will be teaching the graceful class 4 girls.

Get to know Shiyloh
- She has been with IHS for 4 years! 🎉
She says “It’s been one of the best experiences in my life and i’m so grateful for this opportunity to dance and teach!”

- Some of her hobbies and things she enjoys are: Hanging out with her family, anything water related, food, Music, dancing of course, and reading my bible. 🎶

- If she had to be any animal, she thinks she’d be a horse. They are so loyal, brave and free spirited, and wise. She says, “I am most definitely not all of those things, but i aspire to be!” 🐎

- Her favorite verse is Mathew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” This verse has always been such a comfort to her, because all she has to do is keep her eyes on Jesus and seek his Kingdom and Righteousness, and the things she has need of will

Meet Megan Brown! She is the Artistic Director for the New Kent branch of In His Steps.
This semester, along with her leadership responsibilities, she will be pouring into our teachers and supporting them. We are so blessed to have her as our fearless leader!
Get to know Megan:
- She’s been a part of In His Steps since she was 5 years old and has danced for 17 years. She took a break when she went off to college, but she’s so grateful she got to come back to this ministry! 🌿
- She works at a local cafe and loves making coffee and meeting new people! In her free time she enjoys reading, watercolor painting, and spending time with her friends and family. ☕️
- She’s not sure what animal best encapsulates her personality, but if she could choose one to become it would be a monkey because they seem to have the most tun.
- Her favorite Bible passage is Ephesians 4:14-21
because it talks about the vastness of God’s love and power that are so much greater than we can comprehend!

Meet Sarah Croft! She is the Administration Director for the New Kent branch of In His Steps. This semester, along with her behind-the-scenes leadership, she will continue to teach Class 1 and will also teach Class 5. We are so blessed to have her steady hand and servant’s heart guiding the way!
Get know Sarah:
- She has been a part of In His Steps for 19 years. 🎉
- In her free time, she loves to do anything outside. She also enjoys drawing or coloring and hanging out with her family! 🍃
- Her sisters said she’d be a swan because of her loyalty, fierceness and her quiet devotion. 🦢
- One of her favorite Bible verses is Isaiah 41:13 “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you!”
