There's still time to jump into our Exploring Watercolor sessions! Michelle will be glad to catch you up so you can enjoy the last three classes.

Participants will learn and practice the basics of watercolor while adding new information, such as using gouache and color mixing.

Looking for a new way to unwind? Join us on Wednesday evenings from 6pm - 7pm for Tai Chi & Qigong. These sessions are open to all experience levels. Walk-ins are always welcome!

Along with Wabi Sabi Studio, we are also hosting local Qigong Master Mark Reinhart for a special Qigong Workshop on Saturday, October 24th from 2pm - 3pm. Bring a $5 donation and learn about the Eight Pieces of Brocade.

Be a part of one of downtown Wilkes-Barre’s most unique culinary experiences of the year, at the Circle Centre for the Arts, home of the Wyoming Valley Art League. Local restaurants, food vendors, and two beautiful art exhibits all under one roof.

Guests will enjoy a sampling of local restaurants’ culinary selections while viewing artwork and enjoying live music!

Two exhibits will be on display. They feature WVAL Members Juried Exhibit in our third floor gallery and special guest artist Tim Butler in our Maffei Gallery. We hope you will join us for our annual fundraiser and help support the arts!

Participating restaurants and vendors include The Stegmaier, The Cottage at Hillside, Downpour, Susquehanna Brewing Co., Josh Wines, Sugar Plum Chocolates and more!

If you have not had the opportunity to see Carolyn Harper’s exhibit Dreaming of Freedom:
Portraits of Prisoners
the exhibit will be up until next Friday October 9th.

Carolyn works in textiles, featuring hand-embroidered batik and hand-sewn art quilts. These portraits highlight individuals who have been impacted by mass incarceration. Each portrait tells a story of an individual who has been marginalized. Their deeply powerful stories reflect the damage of mass incarceration and expose a justice system that has not stepped up to enact change.

Included in this exhibition is the work of Luis Pagan, who is an incarcerated artist. He is incredibly talented. Luis has been incarcerated since 1997. Luis has been involved in working with Mural Arts inside his correctional facility.

The exhibit is free and open to the public! Hours are Tuesday-Friday 12-5PM. And by appointment.

Join Kris, aka , who has made over 70 minizines since 2023, for this fun class where we’ll use our hands and accessible materials to make a piece of art. We’ll learn about the history of zines, peruse some examples from a mini zine library, and make our own 8-page minizine out of one sheet of paper!

Zines (pronounced zeen, short for magazine) are self created booklets about anything you want, usually copied and distributed in small quantities, and about niche topics. They are a DIY means of self expression, a publication that you don't have to get permission from anybody to make and share. Participants who finish their zine in this 2.5 hour workshop will get to make copies to trade.
