🤠 Bring Out Your Dad’s Inner Cowboy This Father’s Day! Free Admission for Dads.

Looking for a unique way to celebrate Dad? Bring him to the **Sigler Western Museum** this Sunday and let him discover the story of one of the West’s most iconic fashion statements—the **bola tie** (learn why we call it the "bola" tie with an "a").

Featured in the Quayle Gallery is a special display honoring **Victor E. Cederstaff**, often credited as the father of the modern bola tie. A proud Arizona innovator and family man, Cederstaff helped create a Western tradition that remains popular today.

The exhibit also features bola ties from the personal collection of longtime CBS broadcaster **Bill Close**.

🎉 **Father’s Day at the Museum**
**Dads receive free admission**
**Children 17 and under are always free with an adult**
**Open Sunday, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.**

Whether Dad is a lifelong cowboy, a Western history buff, or simply appreciates a good story, the Sigler Western Museum offers a memorable Father’s Day experience for the whole family.

Bring out your dad’s inner cowboy and spend Father’s Day with us!

Starting this Saturday! "Vivid Portraits and Violent Color: The Art of Fritz Scholder" on view Jun 13, 2026 - Feb 28, 2027 in the main Museum. Featured in the June edition of "Western Art Collector Magazine."

Fritz Scholder’s (1937–2005) art, defined by his vivid portraits and bold use of color, was a pivotal force in moving Native American art into the sphere of modern and contemporary art. A Luiseño artist, Scholder’s works challenged and deconstructed stereotypical and romanticized images of Native Americans with brutal honesty, humor, and a striking, expressive palette. His portraits were not just about representation but psychological realism. With distorted features, expressionistic brushwork, and somber tones, his figures convey a profound sense of pain, alienation, and frustration, inviting the viewer to delve deeper into the emotional narrative.

Scholder’s fusion of modern styles like Pop Art and Abstract Expressionism with Native subject matter helped pave the way for a new generation of contemporary Indigenous artists. Scholder’s vivid portraits and expressive colors are also present in his later works from the 1980s and 1990s, where he explored themes of ancient Egypt, mythology, and the afterlife. His work, characterized by its bright colors and synthesis of popular elements from both American Indian and Euro-American cultures, created some of the earliest examples of what is considered “Native Pop.” The majority of the artwork exhibited in "Vivid Portraits and Violent Color" is generously on loan from the collection of Mr. Alan K. Pace. Others are from the collection of Bill and Vicki Haley.

🚧 **Construction Update June 4, 2026: A New Frontier Takes Shape!** 🚧

Progress continues on the Sigler Western Museum’s new **Art Museum and Art Pavilion** in downtown Wickenburg. These recent photos show the transformation of the site from major excavation work in mid-May to the first visible structural elements taking shape in early June. Crews have completed much of the site grading and underground utility work, and the first **concrete wall footers** for the Art Pavilion have now been poured, providing a glimpse of where the future building will rise.

The project is being managed by **Oakland Construction Company** with architectural design by **Studio Ma**. Both local Arizona companies.

Every week brings visible progress as the vision for Wickenburg’s newest cultural landmark moves closer to reality. Thank you to our members, donors, and community supporters who are helping make this historic project possible.
