Illumination Cinema is a multimedia company in Wichita, KS with a strong focus on creating original animated films.

The group was started as a cloud-based team of filmmakers in 2013. Moore, Christopher Strong and Jamie Zin) all crossed paths while working on different jobs. Eventually, they were all brought together to work on what would become Illumination Cinema’s first project, BRIMSTONE TERRACE. It was at some point during the production of this series that they all had the same idea: form a studio. They expanded their efforts to create short films, the ILLUMINATION CINEMA MOVIE PODCAST and their first live action feature, LIVING AFTER MIDNIGHT. A couple years later, the team expanded and centralized in Wichita, KS. They worked on their first animated feature, LEFT HOOK and two live-action features soon after with WISH YOU WERE HERE and PERSONAL HISTORY. All the while, simultaneously producing directorial debut short films for the new talent, including: ANOTHER DAY COLDER, HOW MUCH and FALLING OUT. As well as launching two comic book series, A SCRIPT CALLED MISERY and THE DOG PARK.

Although the lineup has changed, the goal remains the same: to come together to bring each other’s visions to life and create new, original content in various mediums. Whether it be, animation, live-action, podcasts or comics, there is always something being produced.

🔥🔥🔥

BRIMSTONE TERRACE follows Alan Carpenter, a public defender who, after taking his own life, wakes up in an abstract courtroom-style Purgatory where his fate is decided; an eternity in Hell. However, Satan himself takes a special interest in Alan, training him to become the new prosecutor on behalf of the underworld, aka the Grim Reaper. With the promise of an afterlife-changing deal, Alan must decide if his success is worth leaving his morals behind.

The film will screen October 16th (4:45 PM) & 17th (2 PM) at the Boulevard Theater in Old Town! Get your tickets here: https://tallgrassfilmfestival2026.eventive.org/films/6a9fafeea5a171ec0dea0b83

Our first feature came out 10 years ago today!

LIVING AFTER MIDNIGHT was devised as an easy to make first film for our small studio, which consisted of three people split across Kansas, Texas and Australia. It’s a dark comedy following the mishaps of a misfit friend ground on New Year’s Eve. It’s…something.

We learned a lot on that shoot and quickly outgrew the film. However, we made many fond memories and met some really great people. There are a ton of things we would do differently, but we’re still happy to have done it.

🧛‍♀️ Love bites.🩸
We’ve had an incredible time shooting our latest short film, DATING SUCKS, where a vampiress navigates the turmoils of modern dating.
It’s been great to get back on set and work with a bunch of our favorite people.

THE DOG PARK: Volume 1 paperbacks are now on Etsy!!! 🐾

For those unfamiliar, this is a graphic novel about a family of dogs and their friends getting into all sorts of crazy adventures. It’s set in the early 2000s and is meant to have the vibe of a cartoon from that era.
We originally released this in 2021, but after the fundraiser, paperbacks were exclusive to conventions. Terribly inconvenient, since we haven’t been to a con in years!
With a little time on our hands, we decided now was the time to launch an Etsy page and make these available again!
It’s a pretty fun little book! You should check it out. Link in our bio!

PreLiminal ReFraming will have its next screening at the Bare Bones International Film Festival in Muskogee, OK. The festival takes place March 20th - 30th. Exact showtime TBD.

This is the people’s award show! The one that gets it right!!
It’s happening LIVE on Twitch February 5th, starting at 7pm (central).
