Omaha-based painter and printmaker Lori Elliott-Bartle finds inspiration in big skies and landscapes, travel and daily life. She even has a batch of big bluestem grass growing in her urban front yard.
For her work in Land That I Love, “Meet Me at the Prairie #1,” she combined layers of oil colors with cold wax to create depth and texture in an abstract depiction of prairie grasses.
Two of her paintings inspired by the Great Plains were recently shipped to the U.S. embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where they will be displayed as part of the U.S. State Department’s Art in Embassies program.
See Elliott-Bartle’s work and those of 58 other artists in the Land That I Love juried exhibition that celebrates America’s 250th anniversary and is on view at Mark Arts through July 18.
