We just finished our final concert after a week of working with 8 fantastic composers from California to Kosovo! Eight brand new works for violin, trombone, cello, and clarinet were featured this evening! We'll look forward to watching these fine composers share more of their music!

Our 2021 Workshop continues through this week, and will conclude this Saturday - composers' brand new compositions will be performed by musicians of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra on a virtual concert presented via Zoom on Saturday, September 4th at 7:00pm.

The Great Plains Composition Workshop, in association with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, invites composers with up to three years of composition experience—as well as creative musicians who are interested in trying composition for the first time— to apply for the inaugural 2020 Workshop. Composers/musicians should be at least 16 years old and be able to read music. The Workshop will be hosted on Zoom, and selected participants and auditors need not travel to Wichita to participate.

Attendees will join Emmy-nominated guest composer, Anne M. Guzzo, and professional musicians from the Wichita Symphony Orchestra including Music Director and Conductor Daniel Hege, Concertmaster Holly Mulcahy, and others in a series of guided exercises, readings, workshops, panels, and a final online performance of participants’ new compositions by soloists from the Wichita Symphony Orchestra.
