Reflecting in nature just before the equinox ✨ As a place-based artist, my work is often inspired by what is around me. The parameters of a project, the shape of a space. You see, I am a Kansas girlie.

The beauty of the Flint Hills is subtle. The sky is boundless, beckoning adventure and surprise. The longer you listen, the more it has to tell.

That's why my company became the Flint Hills Fairies. For me, the endless magic of the earth has so much to tell.

Most people know me as the founder of the Flint Hills Fairies but next week I'm stepping into a different kind of magical world at Electric Forest ✨💕🎉

This will be my fifth year there with my spooky librarian activation : Card Catalog of Souls. It's a Forest Oracle created by everyone who passes though our space.

Stay tuned, because this year there are some exciting expansions on the project as we work late into the night telling fortunes!

Amanda here, founder of Flint Hills Fairies. ✨

Much of my year is spent traveling the country, creating magical encounters, leading performers, and bringing whimsical experiences to festivals, events, and communities. This week, however, I find myself in a rare place: home.

I've been tending my native garden, planting new additions from Daniel P. Mattingly at Mighty Rivers Nursery, and enjoying the simple magic that inspires so much of my work. Watching the bees move from flower to flower and seeing the lightning bugs emerge at dusk reminds me where many of my ideas begin.

Before the next adventure calls, I'm grateful for a few quiet days in my favorite place—a little corner of Kansas filled with wonder. 🌿✨

When COVID happened, I had a couple months off from my job as a teacher. I remember being amazed at the changing of the seasons as spring came on. ✨

I couldn't believe I'd spent so much of my life missing out on the migration of birds, the blooming of flowers the clouds rolling by.

So.... I asked the universe for the opportunity to experience the seasons change. To have a career that gave me the opportunity to know it all.

That fall, it came together and I've been on the road sense.

I don't regret that at all! 🪷
