This young man had a friends hangout today, and one of the unfortunate realities of the world happened to him… no one showed up. My wife is friends with his mom, and she called me to tell me she was going to hang out with him and his family. I told Lucia that I would come over with anything she told me to get, I said I would even paint his face, but I promised I would make him feel like a king! She sent me the address and away I went. He said he wanted to be a dragon, and I gotta say, I have never painted a dragon…. EVER!! He smiled the whole time, and we threw a football around after, but the greatest gIft I could have given him, my artistic ability, ended up being the greatest gift he could have given me which was his joy!

On Saturday, I was lucky enough to get the family out at the “Puck Cancer” hockey game! Daniel, Therese Schoenecker, Dan, Anthony, Alexandria, Lucia and I had some awesome seats, but the best part was Lu got to go out on the ice and be a representative for the fight against cancer! Now granted she latched on to me because “if I fall down, you are going with me!”, but it was truly an honor to be out there with her and to get to proudly exclaim that she beat the brakes off of cervical cancer! Truly, we have the best support system from both our families, and we always want to find a way to give back. There is a video where I turn around and talk to a little girl behind me, she had thrown a promotional puck out in the ice and then immediately regretted it because she wanted to take home a puck. Towards the end of the game, I turned to Lu, told her I would be right back, and ran to the arena store to buy this girl a Thunder Hockey puck. I ran into an employee I have worked with this year at Newman, and she refused to let me pay for it because it was for a young fan. When you have the support system and a fan section like I do, you would find any possible way to give back to the world! I can’t thank everyone enough for the support they gave us, and from our family to anyone struggling through the fight against cancer, know and believe that we stand with you through it all and we have only two words for cancer….. PUCK CANCER!!!

Date night!!!! has asked me for years to teach her to draw or paint so today is day 1!! I went back to my college days of grid drawings to start because it helped me so much better understand how images come together, and Pokemon may not be her favorite but it’s a good place to start!!!
