If you’ve been following Base Camp Lindsey for any length of time, you know we try to stay upbeat, positive, and enthusiastic.
But right now, we need to be honest first and foremost:
Base Camp Lindsey needs help.
We have gotten this far with just 6 board members and fewer than a dozen committed volunteers—people who also have full-time jobs, families, and lives of their own.
And the truth is, we’re tired.
We’re worried.
We’re spread too thin.
And some days, we’re not sure what to do next.
For years, we’ve followed the conventional advice about how to build a nonprofit—how to recruit a board, find volunteers, approach organizations, and pursue funding. And, frankly, it isn’t working for us.
We can’t keep doing the same things and expecting a different result.
We’ve struggled to find board members who understand the time, commitment and work it will take to get Base Camp Lindsey open. We’ve struggled to find volunteers willing to take on the countless jobs that we simply don’t have the funding to pay for.
And all the while, Veterans still need help.
We’ve even had to make the difficult decision to remove board members whose actions threatened the future of this organization.
But here’s what we want you to hear:
WE ARE NOT GIVING UP.
We are not quitting.
We are not closing our doors.
And we are not walking away from our Veterans.
We simply need to change our approach.
And this time, we need our community.
We aren't looking for fancy titles.
We aren't looking for big bank accounts.
We aren't looking for high-society connections.
We are looking for people with purpose.
People with a fire in their belly to help Veterans.
People who are willing to roll up their sleeves and work.
People who refuse to back down when things get difficult.
Skills can be taught. Passion can't.
If you believe that no Veteran should have to sleep on the streets of the country they pledged their lives to protect, we need you.

Base Camp Lindsey was never supposed to be built by six people.
It is being built for our Veterans—and it will take a community to finish it.
