Cowboys and cowgirls aren't just in Texas! This year's Cowboy True exhibition features artists from a variety of backgrounds and places. But the one thing they have in common is a love for the cowboy way of life.

And don't forget! There's one week left to see the Cowboy True exhibition at the Kemp Center. 35 works by 18 artists from all across the country highlights the diversity of the Cowboy True experience.

Big thanks to our volunteers and group leaders today for their help guiding 250 elementary students around the Kemp Center!

Giddy up! 🐴 Today, 250 elementary students from Chillicothe, Archer City, and WFISD/Zundy joined us for our annual Cowboy True Field Day; a hands-on celebration of cowboy culture, western arts, and frontier traditions! From line dancing and cowboy trail songs to dummy roping, stick horse races, and more, students spent the morning learning through play, movement, music, and storytelling.

Cowboy culture is built on creativity, resilience, community, and tradition, and we loved seeing these young cowboys and cowgirls experience it all firsthand.

Thank you to our volunteers, educators, and community partners who helped bring these interactive stations to life and made today such a memorable experience!

Now, during the twenty-plus years she has called Montana home, she has been inspired to paint the people, animals and action of the West, focusing on capturing their spirit and attitude in her oil or pastel paintings. She is a Founding Member and Signature Member of the Cowgirl Artists of America.

Artist Spotlight! Crystal Orlando (Moody, Texas)

As a former professional horse trainer and artist, Crystal Orlando’s life and art intertwine beautifully—a vibrant dance of resilience, passion, and reverence for the natural world. Primarily self-taught, Crystal began selling her intricate charcoal and graphite drawings at a young age. Meticulously crafting each piece, she captures the soul of animals with unparalleled depth and emotion. Her work speaks not only of her subjects’ beauty but echoes a deeper narrative—the power of perseverance, the strength to rise, and the incredible wonder of life itself.
