Whittier Art Gallery

Whittier Art Gallery Established 1939, the home of the non-profit Whittier Art Association, offering arts education to all

The Art Association built the gallery in 1939 on donated land. For 75 years we have offered continuous monthly exhibits of the best available art work free to the public. The Whittier Art Gallery is one of the few galleries in California where the land and building is owned by the art association. We are a non-profit 501(C)3 that is supported by membership dues, gallery rental fees, sales of art work and donations.

2026 OC Minhwa Members Exhibition
Eo · Ul · Rim (The Fragrant Grove)
A Forest of Smiles, Fragrance, and Harmony

The Orange County Chapter of the Korean Minhwa Association is proud to present its 5th Members Exhibition.

This special exhibition brings together artists of all generations—from middle school and high school students to college students, young adults, and senior members. A total of 35 artists will showcase a wide variety of traditional Korean Minhwa paintings, including floral and bird paintings, Chaekgado (scholar’s bookshelves), Hojakdo (Tiger and Magpie), Munjado (Calligraphy Paintings), and many other beloved genres. The exhibition’s title, “Eo · Ul · Rim,” expresses the spirit of our community. Inspired by the ideas of gentle smiles, subtle fragrance, and a flourishing forest, it reflects the warm and welcoming atmosphere of our Minhwa studio. Like a small forest filled with wildflowers, our studio is a place where laughter, friendship, and creativity blossom. Although each artist brings a unique personality and artistic voice, we learn, grow, and create together. As these individual expressions come together, they form a beautiful and harmonious forest—just as this exhibition represents. Every painting in this exhibition embodies countless hours of dedication, patience, and heartfelt passion. We warmly invite you to experience the richness of Korean Minhwa and the harmony created by these diverse artistic voices. On the final day of the exhibition, Saturday, August 29, from 1:30–3:30 PM, visitors are invited to participate in a Peony Canvas Tote Bag Painting Workshop, where they can enjoy creating their own Minhwa-inspired artwork and take home a unique keepsake. We warmly invite you to join us for this celebration of Korean traditional art, where artists of every generation come together to share their passion, creativity, and the enduring beauty of Minhwa.
