Whitehall Public Theater

Whitehall Public Theater Whitehall Public Theater was created to build community in Whitehall, NY by making theater accessibl

Back in March we really weren't sure if we could pull this project off. Start a theater in a small town in upstate New York... crowd fund a budget... cast twenty people and bring A Midsummer Night's Dream to the public for free. With a lot of hard work and the amazing support of the community we created a work of art we can all be proud of.

We started Whitehall Public Theater with the idea that it could grow into something of real permanence in the town. Unfortunately, life doesn't always take the course we imagine. Work is moving us out of state soon and while both Sandee and I are excited for what comes next, we are deeply saddened not to be able to bring more theater to Whitehall.

Be you donor, actor, volunteer, or audience member, we can't thank you enough for putting your trust in us and helping us create a truly magical production. We hope we have proven that if you are passionate about your community, your community will give it back ten-fold. If we have inspired a single person to get involved in theater in any capacity then we can call it a job well done.

So, goodnight unto you all.

Our initial efforts into finding a group to take the set pieces off our hands so we don't have to destroy them have not come to fruition. If you know of a local school or theater that can make use of 4 pillars, 8 tree cutouts, and various bush cutouts, please let us know. I would love to pass on our set piece to someone who can make use of them.

This summer has been hot, exhausting, difficult, and over way too soon. Thank you to the entire cast and crew of A Midsummer Night's Dream for your talent, hard work, and friendship.

After five long months of hard work overtaking our entire life... was it all worth it? The answer is a resounding YES.

Liz Chirico * OnStage Massachusetts Columnist Tis the season for fall show auditions. Every time I audition for a show and deal with the pre-audition nerves, the waiting-to-hear-if-I-got-a-callback nerves, the waiting-for-the-cast-list nerves I (and others) ask “why?” Why put yourself through that…

Thank you all who joined us for today's opening performance and braved the weather. All I can say is Mother Nature has the best timing for sound cues! *Thunder Clap*

Join us today for the opening of A Midsummer Night's Dream, 2 PM at the Amphitheater in Skenesborough Park on Skenesborough Drive, Whitehall NY. Zeus may enjoy playing games with us but we're performing come rain or shine. Come prepared and don't be afraid of a little water! If we do get caught in a thunder shower we will continue the show under the picnic pavilion in the park.

Midsummer needs your help! We are still looking for two crew members, one silent fairy and someone to run sound.

For the fairy we need a male or female for a non speaking role as a fairy. Dance experience a plus.

For sound, we need someone to cue sounds during scene changes.

We need these by this Sunday at 1:30 for our tech rehearsal. Performances are August 13, 13, 20, 21.

It has been a long 36 hours but the set build is complete aside from a few finishing touches. Our generous traveling set builder was amazing and created a fantastic set for us to play on. We battled rain, forgotten materials lists, a street full of trucks honking horns...and now we finally know why they call it a Tiring house! Thank you to everyone who helped out this weekend!

Hey Everyone! Rehearsals for A Midsummer Night's Dream are in full swing. We've had a few bumps along the way but they aren't stopping us from making this show happen. This past weekend we did whole lot of fabric shopping for costumes and I wanted to share the palette with you. Each of these are broken into groups; The Royals, Lovers, and the Mechanicals.

We will continue updating as more of the pieces come together. Thanks so much for your support. We can't wait to see you in August!
