Located in picturesque Whitehall, the Montana Western Legacy Center celebrates the state's rich western heritage through a dynamic, inclusive visitor experience. The Western Legacy Center in Whitehall, Montana, offers a unique visitor experience that celebrates the dynamic diversity of the Treasure State. From interactive exhibits and special events to a rich array of local products available for

purchase in our unique gift shop, the amazing story of Americaโ€™s last and best place is on full display, all day, every day. Individual donations will fund integrated outreach programs designed to engage, educate, and inspire audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Youโ€™ll also play a key part in building the economic future of Jefferson County, MT as well as the entire region. Shoutouts will be made (one per donor) across all platforms we use (Facebook, Instagram, and more) with each generous donation unless the donor specifies otherwise. Such opportunities include a wide range of engagement possibilities, i.e., Founding Sponsorship, Presenting Sponsor, Business Partner Sponsor, Exhibit Sponsor, and WLC annual membership packages. Planning is underway for The Montana Western Legacy Center's Celebration of America's 250th, Remembering Lewis & Clark's Corps of Discovery Expedition, and the 2026 Lost Hawk Rendezvous, taking place August 14-16!

This year, we're building on Whitehall's unique connection to the Lewis & Clark Expedition and celebrating the stories, people, and craftsmanship that helped shape our nation.

Here's a preview of what's currently in the works:

We're actively seeking vendors, musicians, reenactors, demonstrators, and volunteers who would like to be part of this growing community celebration.

The Montana Tapestry: People and Places from 1776 to Today has arrived at the Montana Western Legacy Center!

Created as part of Montana's commemoration of America's 250th anniversary, this traveling exhibit explores the people, places, and stories that have shaped Montana from 1776 to the present day. Through a series of engaging panels, visitors can discover remarkable Montanans whose contributions have left a lasting impact on our state and nation.

From innovators and community leaders to artists, historians, and cultural trailblazers, the exhibit invites us to reflect on the many threads that weave together Montana's story.

Stop by, take your time with the exhibit, and discover a few stories you may not have heard before.
