“Their stealth is legendary. The most endangered feline in the United States, the Canada Lynx is the epitome of grace and tenacity. The most likely sighting of these cats might occur when snow is on the ground, and I used a reference from photographer Steve Voiles to try to “capture” the wonderful markings of its winter coat.”-Nancy Cawdrey

"Whitetail Deer run up to 40 mph, a good thing as they are hunted by every sizable carnivore in the United States, including humans! I love catching site of these beasties as they run off, whitetails flagging like a metronome. I chose to depict the deer in a dramatic nocturne, a star-studded "Montana Big Sky" as the backdrop." -Nancy Cawdrey

"The Coyote is the trickster, an opportunist and an expert hunter. Mark Twain described him as a "living, breathing allegory of want...he is always hungry." There are many wonderful native legends about the wily coyote, and some of us grew up with cartoons starring this canine and his adventures with roadrunners. I felt moved to paint the coyote with brilliant color and movement in a dark midnight-blue sky. These are creatures of the night." -Nancy Cawdrey

Fun Fact about the Big Horn Sheep painting! Big Horn rams set a high bar for championship headbutting! Their curled horns weigh up to 30 pounds, and the sound of two rams battling is a bucket-list experience. I placed the ram on the top an outcropping of rock and high meadow, where he sits imperiously overlooking the kingdom of Glacier National Park. He had attitude, strength and perseverance in this rugged terrain. I wanted to convey all of that when I painted him with saturated color, filling the silk canvas with his form. https://www.foreverglacier.com/
